I bought the craftsman one on clearance for $40 just to have the extra battery for my hedge trimmers and ratchet. Those are the only craftsman tools I own and that drill may not hang with my Milwaukee, but it can definitely hold its own for someone just needing a general household drill. I use it as a loaner so if I don’t get it back in working order, I’m not mad at anyone lol.

Just found your channel and I love it man! You’re going to hit 1M in no time, I’m sure of it. Just stay unbiased, throughout, and maybe add some calm music while you’re testing them like Project Farm does. It ties it all together and makes it more enjoyable. Good luck!
@Tools-Tested

Thanks! Yeah I'm defiantly unbiased and plan to stay that way. Music is tricky, I need to find a good source. I agree it plays a huge role in making it enjoyable. Hopefully things pick up some, I don't expect 1M or even 100,000 anytime soon. Just wish I could get enough views to pay for the tools. I really like making the test equipment, but I might have to take a break. Its extremely expensive and I don't care to be in more debt. We will see hopefully it works out, thanks for the support!

Good video. I have two of the Bauer ones and like them quite a bit even though one has developer an intermittent trigger (mechanical issue I procrastinate to investigate). My biggest gripe is with the batteries, I must have bought half a dozen or more of them for each drill (I have the drills in separate addresses) because they die quickly, and I always end up having to decide whether to switch system ($$$) or replace them ($). The decision in the short term is obvious, but in the long term is starting to no longer make sense. BTW, I am not using these drills very often, but the batteries will fail to charge at some point as I put them on the charger. I did not want to put the batteries in the trash, so I still have some of the failed ones in my garage in case you wanted to look into them. Love your videos. Ciao, Marco.

Honestly I have yet to buy it, I was already maxed expense wise for the month. I just don't have the money like large channels. I do plan to test it in a part 2 along side the brushed ridged, Milwaukee, ryobi. Im also having trouble determining which Black & Decker to test, they offer a good amount of different models. Might have to be a video just for Black & Decker.

@@Tools-Tested BD would definitely be interesting, since they have two drver offerings that I know of... a standard budget drill, and their Maxtix line with swappable heads. My first drill was a BD until I wanted better battery life, and started building out my Dwalt XR tools. So far, zero issues with Dewalt XR and 5ah batteries. I think the BDs are 1ah or 1.2ah... both not good on hardwood, and not a lot of power.

Where are you doing for your craftsman tools? I seen that on Amazon they had incredibly high craftsman drill prices but at Lowe's they're sixty dollars. Or sometimes you can find a deal and get the drill and impact for less than a hundred.

I think brushed motors in power tools have had their day really. Even serious DIY are likely to avoid them now, probably just for someone to screw their house number to their door and never use again. I haven't seen a single speed box on a drill for years.

Brushless is unnecessary. Enjoy the microprocessor failures and failed permanent magnet from excessive heat/use.
@gf2e
@gf2e Жыл бұрын
@@calculator1841 Brushed motors have permanent magnets too. They probably don't fail as often because the brushes die before the magnets get damaged :) Good brushed tools have been around for ages. I think they can make good brushed tools. But everything expects good tools to be brushless nowadays so I expect that only the lowest end tools will be brushed partially due to consumer expectations.
@three-phase562
@three-phase562 Жыл бұрын
@@gf2e Several manufacturers can and have made excellent brushed tools in the past. When battery tools were in their infancy, the larger SDS tools were still mains powered and brushed motors. But as you say, consumer expectations play a big part, and will drive the market, that has a desire to sell products to survive and grow. I think it was the trigger that went on my brushed Ryobi battery drill before anything else.
@engineer_alv
@engineer_alv Жыл бұрын
@@gf2e brushed motors are like manual transmissions on cars. Those have historically been more reliable than automatics, and when they fail it usually doesn't go past the clutch which would be much cheaper to replace than the whole gearbox. But people no longer want mechanical shifting and the few that still do have to settle with an econobox or a sports car. But even those are mostly automatics now as the multi speed transmissions are now faster than most manuals even with experienced hands

@@gf2eAnother plus of brushed tools, much cheaper and you can get brushes or even replacement motors for almost nothing, a 775 Mabuchi motor is $10, and you can even upgrade for either more torque or more speed

I have the Hart as well as Bauer and Craftsman. The Hart is definitely huge compared to the other two but it hasnt failed me yet. The Bauer I've had to warranty it out twice, one started smoking and the second one just died randomly from one day to the next. The Craftsman is solid and i bought it cuz i got it on clearance, if it was regular priced I wouldve passed on it. Will you be doing a Brushless version test of these? Thanks gor the great content and for using budget friendly brands in your tests. Other channels just focus on the top end and leave us DIYers hanging.

@@Tools-Tested I appreciate the reply. Wasn't expecting that. Lol. I saw your video for brushless ones and again, thanks for a thorough testing and compassion of the tools. I jumped on the Hart line because I like the colors and I have multiple Walmart stores in the area, so I can usually find what I need there without ordering online. I also like the fact that they're releasing a lot of different items compared their sister brands Ryobi, Ridgid and Milwaukee. Yes, a lot of the early Hart tools seemed to be exact Ryobi clones, but the newer ones they've slightly tweaked them to be better than Ryobi and some of your tests on different videos have confirmed that as well. Anywho, enough yapping about that stuff. Thank you again for all the videos and useful data you've shared with all of us. Definitely becoming one of my favorite channels on KZbin. Take care.
