Barbie..... I am 3000 plus miles away from you ....clear out here on the northwest Coast..... Your relaxing to listen to. I'm a machinist and I love to weld.... I first learned how to gas weld... With oxy acetylene..... And I made a set of headers for a 1956 Ford Woody station wagon... Out of some mandrel bent u- bends.... I had so much fun.... First I bolted the flange plate on the side of the cylinder head and just started tack welding short pieces.... Pretty soon I built them out and routed them down underneath the vehicle into a collector.... and I had my friend check my work.... He's the guy that used to work in our shop in Seattle that used to work in a muffler shop so he taught me right... Hey have you ever heard that when using a propane rosebud.... That there is more heat about 2 inches to 3 in. out from the inner cone..... Most welders hold the inner cone right next to the work that they are trying to heat up... Put that 2 to 3-in gap between the part that you're trying to heat up and that inner blue cone and watch how much quicker it heats the part up.

That's been my experience as well. The Japanese word "kaizen" expresses it perfectly, meaning continual improvement. Seven years ago I never dreamed my work would be in a gallery.

You inspire me… I’m feeling so discouraged in college right now. I’ll finally be taking my welding courses in the fall… I don’t know a single thing about welding.. so I’m really worried that I’ll fail. You make me want to be the best welder around. Makes me want to work hard and don’t give up.

I didn’t know a single thing about Welding when I started. Send me an email at Barbie thewelder@gmail.com. I’d love to send you some encouragement! I know how hard it was for me in the beginning when I didn’t feel confident and no one believed in me.

Barbie, great words and a lot of truth in what you said. People that have that inner artist flowing thru their veins will find a way to make any job they do into a personal creation. I can attest that my machine designs have a lot my heart in them. ❤

Barbie, as always you are right on! Thank you. I saw this week that the Eagle feathers that I am doing now really are SOOOO much better than those I attempted when I first started this project in November. My problem is that I probably don't have 8 years in which to improve... 😢 That just means I'll have to have fun faster!!! 😅

I really like your work. Your recent items are great. I started trying jewellery and then recently decided to more to larger objects. Starting small and then slowly getting bigger. I like copper, brass and bronze which are difficult to cut with plasma cutter. I am currently setting up my CNC router to cut shapes which I will weld together using silicon bronze brazing.

Hey Barbie! 👋 I think i notice how happy you are with yourself at how you have broadened your skills. That's great 😊 There is an appeal in the artwork from both your 8 years ago vs now. You just are able to create more styles now! I hope to make metal art someday. I have some experience in metal with construction, electrician, maintenance, and welding. But it's only been enough to introduce me to it. I still feel intimidated because i don't know much. But what i do know, i have attempted to show on my channel. I'm thinking of taking the videos down.. i have not even started the welding video which is just where i would show tools that i still have from my last school that unfortunately did not work out for me. Anyway, thanks for sharing! And awesome muscles! I try to stay fit, hoping i can go back to this kind of stuff. But it's great to be fit anyway 🤪 I'm in process of trying to get government disability. If it works then maybe i can find a new school that works well with me. I need teachers that are willing to adapt to students' needs and their new ideas for improving the industry! I'm tired of "traditions and standards" being things that teachers use as an excuse to literally limit everyone and stops progress!

You sound like an artist!!! I left my first videos up and they’re dorky and awkward as ever however that me. The more you be you unapologetically the happier you be. Have fun enjoy yourself don’t be super critical but see what you’d like to improve and work at it. Little bites!

@@BarbieTheWelder Thanks, Barbie! I'll keep trying. And I guess I'll leave the videos up then.. they're not at the level that I want them but I don't think it's a horrible start either. I'll check out your "dorky" videos lol. Little bites! WELD ON!

Thank you! LinkedIn shut me down for using my artist name instead of my government name. I’ve got a new channel I started again www.linkedin.com/in/theogbarbie I don’t have access to my old business page however it’s still there even though they took my personal page down. I really love the people there so decided to rebuild. 🫶🏻☺️

Hi Barbie how did you fund yourself in the beginning when just starting out to not get demotivated and trying to find a job
@BarbieTheWelder3 ай бұрын
Dirk, I got very lucky because I was hired right out of Boces. My teacher encouraged me to go over to a company and so I was very blessed with the supportive teacher who helped. I was super passionate and what I lacked in talent I made up for in passion And I think the positive attitude is super important. If you need more encouragement, check out my website. I have a newsletter that I sent out that’s encouragement for creatives. You can also feel free to email me at Barbiethewelder@gmail.com if you just need a kind word, I’ll happily, be there for you!
