Thanks for showing both the green turning and dry turning in the same video. Love the dry sense of humor that you never see coming. Makes going to school and learning something fun. Your video series have helped me a lot in the year that I've been cursing at spinning wood. At this point in my turning, I think that the best use of the skew is well demonstrated on this video.

Thanks for the lesson. I have watched all of your videos so far, but it will not be the last time I watch them. You are a great teacher. Thanks.

Hi great video especially for us who are considering getting into turning. What level of moisture content do you consider to be dry? Ta John

Just got through watching your video and can’t help but wonder how I might go about buying a green turned bowl?
@hawkeye101003 жыл бұрын
Hi Billy, you can buy wet wood on eBay as kiln-dried wood.

Hi Don, I thought the idea of using a kiln to dry wood was just that to DRY wood rather than to sell it as green or wet wood??

When I use a dry bowl blank I get much more tearout and cracking.

I’m here to learn so this is just a guess… Do you think the moisture makes the grain swell so that they’re more tightly packed than dry grain and therefore better able to provide a truly SUPPORTED cut? That’s my GUESS.

Oh and…. from another turner I follow….”Sharpening your tool gets rid of about 90% of problems you experience” :)
