Hi Sarah. This is a great project. I just got my Cricut so I'm just learning. After I complete this in Design Space, what do you suggest doing with it? Cut it on cardstock and frame it? Do it in vinly and put it on glass? I'd like to make this for my Mom for valentine's day so would appreciate some ideas!
@CraftWithSarah3 жыл бұрын
I would suggest either cutting from vinyl (but you'll want to make it as big as you can as those words around the edge will be quite tricky to weed - I should have used a much simpler font to make it easier!) or do it as a "print then cut" so it could go into a photo frame. To do that, place a white square or rectangle the size of your photo frame behind all your layers, center your heart onto the rectangle with the Align tool, then select all the layers (including the rectangle) and click the "Flatten" button (it's down the bottom of the layers panel, next to Slice/Weld/etc). This turns it into a "Print then Cut" image and your Cricut will cut around the edge of the rectangle so that it will perfectly fit into your frame :)

Hi, I have a Mac , and I don’t have the curve tool in Design Space. Why is that? Thanks!
@CraftWithSarah3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, I think it should be available on Macs as long as you are using the desktop version of Design Space, not the mobile app. Perhaps try reaching out to Cricut support to ask them why you don't have it. It only appears for text, not images, so make sure you haven't selected a image layer. It also only works if you haven't Welded the text yet. Once you have Welded, the curve button doesn't appear any more.

How do you cut and weed something like this for a bag or shirt?
@CraftWithSarah2 жыл бұрын
I used a bit of a silly font really for the outside as it will be hard to weed!! If it was made big though, for a bag or perhaps a shirt then it should be fine. If you are using heat transfer vinyl/HTV/iron-on then don't forget to mirror your design before cutting.

Thank you Sarah! I followed along with this video and I created the same thing with a friend's name and when I was done I wasn't sure how to print it and what to print it on. The card stock didn't work well and the vinyl was just too tiny to weed. What size were your letters? Did it cut out in the heart shape or did you have to weed them and then place each piece individually? Or does yours cut out in one piece?
@CraftWithSarah3 жыл бұрын
I think with the font I used you would need to cut it quite big to make it easier to weed. If you were going to frame the design then you could put a white square behind it, flatten all the layers together and then use print-and-cut so it would print all the words rather than try to cut them?
@joanbain35062 жыл бұрын
I learned a lot by watching your great video. Thanks for that. But I'm not sure what the finished project will be. Will Cricut cut out the heart as a whole or will it cut out each word and shape separately?
@CraftWithSarah2 жыл бұрын
It will cut separately but if you cut it from vinyl (either adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl) then it can be placed onto your project quite easily with transfer tape (adhesive vinyl) or with HTV it has the backing left on it so you can move all the words/letters together. You could use it on a t-shirt/hoody/glass frame/etc. If you use a script font for the small words like I did then I recommend making it as big as you can as those letters will be hard to weed! :D
@muriellecurcio14943 жыл бұрын
This is very helpful. After cutting, how do you suggest finishing the piece? I am interested in making framed wall art. Could the drawing function also be an option for a framed piece of wall art, if using a drawn font?
@CraftWithSarah3 жыл бұрын
I think that would work well! If you are going to cut the outside words then I suggest a simpler font than the one I used so make it easier to weed and transfer the tiny letters.

Hello Sarah, what size should I make my words and my heart?
@CraftWithSarah2 жыл бұрын
It depends what you are putting it on :) If you are using script font letters for the outside like I did, make it as big as possible as otherwise they will be hard to weed. This type of design would work well for a tote bag or t-shirt/hoodie but not very well for something small like a mug.
@hollywoodharris813 жыл бұрын

I love this idea I have been using my Cricut for 4 years and I have Never been able to figure out how to do this ! But my question is if you always do the heart will it always come out looking kinda crooked ? Or is it suppose to look like that ?
@CraftWithSarah3 жыл бұрын
I think if you put a bit more time and care into it than I did, and also if you used a more solid font that wasn't a script font (maybe Montserrat or Raleway which are free to download online) then you could match the outline of the original heart a little better :)
@LucillesParadise363 жыл бұрын
