Good to see you both getting out and about. That's a proper museum, we've nothing like it in Ireland. Interesting to see both your takes on the engineering of the items. Most people would be better off looking into a ditch when it comes to actually appreciating the brains it took to design and make things back in the day and then getting some "brave " souls to try it out and if they came back, it must be a good idea.

The bubbles on the white Catalina seaplane were observation bubbles as one of their main roles was air sea rescue. There is a plan from a company in Florida to start manufacturing them again (aptly named Catalina Aircraft), hoping to start deliveries in 2029.

Anyone know how the nozzle flaps work at the back end of the Blackbird engine? Seems like they must have to close inward against a massive amount of force…

High pressure fuel, valves, hydraulic cylinders, levers (my guess)

11:00 Radiators for what? The radial engines are all air-cooled/oil-cooled.

Love this museum but it is a bit badly setup. Great knowledge and humor showed as usual

That wasn't a Bulldog, its a Saxon, massive pile of shite. Also the Tiger is a replica built on a T34 chassis. Nice museum at Duxford.
