The ONLY reason Burley is on the panel is because he scored a goal at France 98. Had he not scored that goal, no one would ever had heard of him in the USA. He was poor at Chelsea and Fulham and only did well in the SPL playing for Celtic. I get that he hates England and that's fine but he is a great example of the dreadful state of punditry we have today online. First of all, Craig couldn't come across any more bitter and petty. English fans and media are well aware we shouldn't be in the league B to begin with, and pats on the back are simply to do with the circumstances in which Carsley took over (a lot of people genuinely expected Southgate to stay on for another 2 years). This nations league was more about trying out new players and systems, some worked some didn't but the job was still done in terms of promotion. Secondly, I completely understand where Kane was coming from with his comments about players dropping out and the culture. I must be one of the only ones that gets what he's saying. If you have followed England closely since the 2018 world cup, from that original core group of players; how they behave around the media, at St George's Park, during the euros which was mostly at home, standing together over issues related to Qatar, and the grit and determination to get to the final in Germany a few months ago. If you understand all that, you know exactly what he's talking about, and that was all created and nurtured by Southgate and Kane.
