Craig Foster doubles down on ‘fundamentally different’ case to ban Israel from FIFA

Socceroo legend Craig Foster has been questioned in a fiery discussion about his call for Australia to support a ban on Israel from competing in international football.
Mr Foster was accused of holding double standards as he has yet to call for other countries to be banned from the sport despite their lists of recognised human rights abuses.
The former Socceroos captain claimed Israel’s case was different after the ICJ ruled their offensive into Gaza was genocide.
“FIFA have the strongest human rights policy in all of international sport - that is why they have to make a decision on Israel,” Mr Foster told Sky News Australia host Danica De Giorgio.
“Here, the ICJ has made a ruling, and what that means for FIFA is they have to act.
“There has only been, as I understand it in recent times, four rulings on genocide, so it is fundamentally different.”

South Africa submitted a case against Israel and it will be years before a ruling is brought down. Joan Donoghue, former president of the court who issued the ruling, says the exact opposite in her latest statement on April 25: “It did emphasise in the order that there was a risk of irreparable harm to the Palestinian right to be protected from genocide,” she said. “But the shorthand that often appears, which is that there’s a plausible case of genocide, isn’t what the court decided.” - ICJ did NOT deem Gaza to be a plausible geno cide. They did not order a ceasefire. But they DID order the immediate release of all hostages. Shame on you Craig

Craig, you’re wrong on the case of Israel as you haven’t considered the facts and reality of what Israel stands for and how it carries itself when it comes to behaviour and accountability in war … as opposed to clear cut genocidal intentions and charter by which Hamas stands (to wipe our Israel and Jews). Israel has no genocidal policies against any people. Consider the Arabs living within Israel, enjoying all freedoms and access as free people … and compare that to how people are treated in Hamas controlled Gaza, where Jews are not welcome and would be killed and children are taught to hate Israel.

What ICJ did say was that Palestinians have a plausible case to be protected from genocide, but explicitly did not express an opinion about whether such genocide is occurring.
