My sister has buried 5 adult children out of 6, car wrecks, and cancer. Two daughters, and her husband all died from cancer in less than 2 yrs. I don't know how she still exists, but her faith keeps her going. She also fought breast cancer a little over a year ago. There are strong women in the world, and then there are those like my sister. Thankfully her youngest surviving son is doing well.

His 19 year old son Jerry died in a boating accident four years ago. His son Jerry was adopted, but the loss is just as strong. God bless Jerry, Craig, their family. This is the strongest, most emotional song I have ever heard. The only other song that has ever stirred such emotion was "Tears in heaven" by Eric Clapton after the loss of his son Conner.

His voice, his faith, being a veteran and a family man, his ability to write music-I’ve never felt so sick after hearing a song. The crying til he passed out, not healing completely til he goes home-absolute devastation and something I hope I never go through and wish he never did either

As a woman who has an angel baby. I can attest that there is nothing more painful for a mom than to bury her child. My firstborn daughter was a week old when we lost her. I won't say it's any harder for the mom than the dad, but I'm sure it's different. This song never fails to make me cry, and think of her. She'd be 15 this April. Her little brother and sister are the reason my life has ambition.

@Nicole Murray Wow, I am so sorry that you've had to live with this harsh reality. It's just something that nobody can imagine if they haven't been through it, and I haven't been through it. All I can do is imagine. I'm glad you have two other children to go through life with, as they one day will have kids of their own and will understand you better when they do. You're always welcome to post here, as there are beautiful and compassionate people, some of whom have experienced what you have and have shared that on here. No matter what you share or don't, welcome to the channel and I'm with you in spirit. :-)

The loss of a sibling is one that many people over look. Because the parents are hit so hard, and if they have a child or children, they are hit hard as well. So we the sibblings hold it together, and let it out when we are alone. I lost my big brother two years ago, and still feels like yesterday. If we feel the pain we feel, and see our parents with what they feel, it's incomprehensible what they must be feeling. We too lost a part of ourselves, a part of our heart. The words in the song are so true for even us as sibblings loosing our first best friend.

First time hearing this song...pretty d*mn real! Craig Morgan has made a career of singing about what he sees and believes (not easy to do in Nashville). He served quite a long time in the Army and now sings for the troops...not as an outsider but as a brother. He's still married to the same women he married before he was anybody. He converted to Roman Catholicism and isn't afraid to put God back into the equation. Critics have said his songs can be preachy and represent an "outdated and simplified" view of faith, patriotism, family, morals, and duty. Well maybe that's true, but I like it and agree that's exactly what America needs to get back to.

With Trump, there’s more God in the equation because he signed a bill last week to allow prayer in public schools, but it’s just going to get worse til we go home. My heart has a void in it now that will never heal until I am back with my son.

Reminded me so much of Eric Clapton's song "Tears in Heaven", he wrote after his 4 year old boy fell 53 stories out an open window, that was in the process of being repaired. A close friend of mine lost his only two young boys to drowning. He never recovered and had a shortened life. Too many tragic events we have to deal with down here. Thanks Don for doing this song. 1st time I have seen the video for it.

Don, this is very real and the pain you see is very real. I lost a son and there is always a piece of you that is missing, yet the love for that child is never gone. You have to have those moments of being along, talking to God, and keeping your child alive inside your heart at all times. Yes, the pain is very very real, but you have to find a way to go on, to keep living until the day comes when you do go home and are joined together again. And if you have other children, you have to be strong for them and keep them going in life. I love Craig Morgan!! and I love his music!!

Thank you for reacting to this. I saw a clip of this before it was ever released when he performed it for the first time on the Opry’s Instagram story (the same day as Luke Comb’s Opry induction) and immediately did everything I could do find the song. The studio version didn’t get released until months later. He later revealed that after performing it at the Opry for the first time, he say Ricky Skaggs backstage and said how he can’t put it out because he barely got through the song without breaking down, but Ricky said that he had to. I’m so grateful he did; I can’t imagine how many people this song has touched.

Wikipedia: Craig Morgan Greer was born in Kingston Springs, Tennessee, on July 17, 1964.[1] He became an emergency medical technician at age 18. He served on active duty for nine and a half years in the US Army as a member of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions and remained in the reserves for another six and a half years.[2 The reason the Grand-Ol Opgrand ole opry is memorable is Craig stands at the mic, shoulders back, hands curled, at attention at probably one of the most difficult times in his life to honor his son and placing his faith in God that some day there will be an understanding of why.

He never questioned God about Jerry's death. He has a deep faith. Watch his interviews. He and his family are amazing testimonies to how God can help you through something as tragic as the loss of a child or loved one. A side note: Jerry was adopted but that doesn't take away from the loss.

@Duane Anderson I just saw this post after I responded to you other post, and I'm so sorry for what happened to you!! Man, I don't know where to begin because I can't even fathom that degree of loss. I hope you have family members and friends who you trust and who bring you some measure of relief, however temporary it may be. I am so sorry.

@@RockN2Country thanks for you're interests. I am dealing with a therapist. And, cry myself sick often. I asked my therapist if that was normal. She said profound grief can cause us to feel intense emotions. And, our body may react in that fashion.

This song doesn't quite fit as there wasn't a death but I'm really, really missing my oldest foster kiddo right now. He lived with us for almost 3 years and after we were told we were going to adopt him, he was returned to his previous situation. I don't know where he is, if he's safe, warm, fed or loved. I've had times of crying and praying like this man. Tonight is one of them.

@Joanna Davies Ouch, that is so hard for you I can't even imagine. I have a surrogate daughter and it would wreck me to not see her again or know where she is. I hope you are able to contact him soon, or that at some point he reaches out to you. In today's social media world I have no doubt he will when he's old enough, maybe sooner. And then you'll really cry, and they will be tears of relief and joy. Keep the faith as best as you can, and welcome to the channel! Feel free to share things here, as there are a lot of compassionate people on here. It is a beautiful thing.

It's unnatural for a parent to bury a child, which is why we never plan for it, we pray against it, and if it happens it is equally as devestating as it was joyous when that child was born.

This is not something I've experienced. But I imagine getting out of bed itself is a task. That much of the days and weeks following the loss are spent reliving thar day and contemplating the "if only's" all day long. I also see that in situations like this that a lot of respectable men will feel a sense of duty to be the rock for their wife no matter how deep the pain runs,
