Craig Sargent shares his deeply personal journey with the Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC), which began when he was just five years old.
During a difficult time in his life, as his parents went through a divorce, the club became a safe haven for him-even though he was often getting into trouble. It was through the encouragement of Ken Walsh, who offered Craig the chance to join karate lessons despite financial difficulties, that he found mentorship and purpose at AYCC.
In this video, Craig reflects on how the support and mentorship he received at AYCC kept him on the right path, preventing him from potentially ending up in jail.
Now, as the Head Karate Instructor, he is dedicated to giving back by providing karate classes that help children build confidence, discipline, and the skills to grow and prosper. For Craig, the most rewarding part is hearing how his classes have positively impacted the lives of his students and their families.
Craig emphasizes the critical need for community support to ensure that more children have a safe place to learn, grow, and receive the guidance they need at AYCC.
Your generosity ensures that all children have a place to go, food to eat, access to positive programming, and the opportunity to become contributing adults.
