Any foreigner who comes to NZ is completely shocked at the price of everything here. The housing stock in wellington is dilapidated just really poor quality. House prices need to drop. 700k for a beaten wooden box is not normal our youth will leave and the third world immigrants will be the only ones lining up to come replace them

Wellington: GVs are wildly overvalued with extortionate rates. Market is selling/buying up to $200,000 less than GV. Rates go up but never adjust downwards.

That seems like a huge amount of dwellings built per month, especially given that it's just in Auckland. "Back of the napkin calculations"- According to Infometrics Auckland's population rise (2024) is around 44k p/a, so 3666 people per month. With 1450 dwellings built per month in Auckland that's about 2.5 people per dwelling. That seems pretty balanced to me in terms of supply/demand, maybe even a bit "too good"!

Craig has very good views but I think his overarching view of American geopolitics and what Trump will actually do he is guessing. Also before you comment I have spent half my life in USA and also were part of the 2016 campaign no hate just saying Craig you do t need to have an opinion on everything thanks

The government doing well or not? The latest figures from Auckland Council show it issued 1444 Code Compliance Certificates (CCCs) for new dwellings in November 2024, following 1497 in October and 1451 in September. However, numbers remain well down from the same September to November period in 2023, when new dwelling completions topped 1900 per month.
