But keep in mind that if it wasn't for the Nissan L-Series Engines and the Technology of the VG Engines then there wouldn't be any 1JZs or 2JZs... Do some research for yourself and you'll see that the VG Engines are not "Inferior" LoL

Man, this is so awesome! I simply love to hear about it and see photos of that era, it is so special to me. I was born in 2001 and grew up watching F&F movies and playing Need for Speed... for me the 90's and 2000's were the best years of the automotive culture, period. A era where everyone was building their cars for theirselves and not for clout on social media...The cars, the parts, the events, the magazines, everything was so special. Thank you Craig for sharing these things and for telling the actual stories behind the movies!

Thanks Craig. Fantastic insight of a Supra. You must've had a blast doing all of that. I bought my Supra not because of F&F. I liked the Supra a lot. Was never imported to South Africa where I live. I had the opportunity of working in Japan permanently in 2003. I bought my Supra as company car there. Now back in South Africa and I still have her. I'm thinking of wrapping it in Yellow. Anyway. i think craig has earned his spot among the legends. he went through the OG stage, then got mainstreamed by hollywood.. had been on the receiving end of the good and the bad about this scene.. for as much as tuner world was concerned, he was a part of it.. and if he decided to build a new supra for himself, its just about as legit as the movie car.. because he owned that car you see in the movies

The only thing the fast and the furious did was make the Supra Worth a lot more. The car was already ahead of its time by decades. wether the engineers made it like that on purpose or not, the supra will for ever be legendary.

In the video of the "back lot of universal" clippet, there's a white R34 GTR already in the background and this is 1999 before FF1??? So someone there - especially you HAD to have seen that. Why it was never cast in the movie as a brand spanking new car that Japan itself only had available to purchase off a showroom dealer for mere months and yet sitting there in California is really worthy of investigation.

Those cars are still badass in my opinion. The Supra and the eclipse are pretty until this day . I love how they cut corners in post production in the theater version, in the motorcycle chase scene you can see the jumps on the hills and the stunt rider slaming into the curb breaking his leg, you can't see any of this on the DVD release

7:32 ahaha that's epic 😆 Not sure that was his first time on tuned JDM tho But i wouldn't blame him First time riding along a modded+tuned turbo JDM could make one looks stupid. In my case, that was this mildly modded gtst r32 of friend's. Yah, still rb20det, but all these noises of turbo spools, wastegate and bov, and the acceleration combined gave me the experience... And the feeling of squeeze right up at the seat upon acceleration for the first time is a memory itself xD. So i can understand what a tuned 2jz can do to someone of first time Modded 2jz did indeed made me looks stupid even tho I've been on good amount of tuned jdm, both ridden along+owning acouple myself. And my first jz exp happened to be on this blue 2jz tt r32 gtst(yeah, my country got too much gtst in here lol). Even tho auto trans that thing squeeze me hard! Even with huge nitto tires trying their best gripping the thing, thing still sway right and left hard! 2jz definitely are on another level of their own

The new MK5 BMW Supra’s looks & proportions annoy me compared to the lovely MK4 Supra looks. I just find the MK5 Supra too short & small in size / length being based on on the Z4 platform. I wish the new MK5 looked more muscular / broader like the MK4 does. Maybe the new BMW supra should of been based on the M4 platform with a wing?
