I don't think you're gonna read this, but I wanted to thank you with my heart because I have my Botanic exam in two days and couldn't understand properly this part of the reproduction. I was really going crazy, then I found this. THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping out a desperate student :)

You have made a small error, the synergids you marked are supposed to be antipodal cells and the two closer to the egg cell are the synergids . Better check that

I'm a biology major. These are great! I have a young son and was not able to study to my requirements gymnosperms and angisperms before my test at 9am! Thank you these are terrific, great refresher with detail, pictured processes and questions! Love it!

In spite of the simplification you made by ommiting the three synergids and the antipodes, this was quite clear and understandable. Very useful and precise. Thank you!

Yes, all the sepals together are referred to as the calyx. In my experience sepals is a more commonly used term, but both are acceptable.

Usually the 3 that you are calling "synergids" are called antipodals...the 2 next to the egg are the synergids! This is a very nice presentation that I use in my classes!

This was a super helpful video in helping us visualize the process and function of flowering plants in reproduction. My 5th graders found it very helpful in understanding the processes and how the different parts worked together. Your animations made that so much clearer for them than the drawings and diagrams they had thus far. Thanks!

Generally, yes. Lilies are monocot angiosperms so they follow the basic reproductive cycle I've described. However, you can propagate lilies in various ways via the bulbs rather than from seeds. But if your task is to describe how the gametes of a lily reach one another then this should be adequate.

For my biology final my teacher is making us do many small projects on plants, or describing things about plants. One of the projects i'm doing is to "Use a flower as the setting and creatively describe the process of pollination and fertilization and all parts included in each process. Once fertilization occurs explain how the new seed will get to a spot where the embryonic plant will have a chance to survive." This is going to help so much! Thank you!
