OMG, I was sooo upset with Kevin when he brought those medals in, Peter is a better person then me and assumed Kevin is going through a very bad time in his life so re-framed the great-grandfather's medals and marked it not for sale. ❤❤❤ Peter, and he treats all animals with love too 💞

Just use this experience as a learning moment. The way society has conditioned us today it is sooo easy to jump to conclusions and want to judge people (more often then not negatively however it goes both ways) or assume we know the situation at hand based off of one small interaction. When i watched the episode the other day where he sold his medals i had a different reaction but a reaction nonetheless. I felt bad for him but also was not offended by him selling off the medals. He said he was living in a van at the time and the way i looked at it was that like he said it could have easily got broken into and stolen or if something were to happen to kevin or who knows the possibilities are endless but i thought at least the fact that he sold it to peter its not just going to end up stolen or in the garbage somewhere someday. I figured even if oerer sold it you know that it takes a special buyer for something like that and anyone who would have spent the money on it likely would have taken care of it and the memory would have lived on. Maybe not in the original family but at least its not completely forgotten. However as i said my reaction also could have been completely wrong and i gave him the benefit of the doubt when he maybe didn’t deserve it. In this case i do believe he did deserve it however im just stating that because its almost in our human nature to want to judge or assume something of someone based off of one 5-10 minute interaction when the truth is we dont really know one way or the other. Some people are very good and fooling others and using that to their benefit. I hope you dont take this the wrong way like i am scolding you or anything like thatas that is not my intentions. Just trying to help to spread the word that we need to stop and try understand that we should not judge people good or bad. That is not our place in the world. Help out where and when you can and try to be a good person. Let God or whatever higher power you believe in do the judging and just try to be a good human being. Have a good day

Dear Pete. What is insane... is remembering my mom buying me a clock at the second hand market! I was 5yrs old. We returned home and she placed it on the table at home, and said I will get Dads tools and you can take the clock apart....... I did! And there were lots of bolts, screws and springs left over! After she said put it back together. It is a wonderful memory, and the trading shop... very much reminds me of the people, and characters at that market. Do well my friend.

Always amazes me the people that will sell stuff for sometimes 10% of what they could get for it selling it themselves.. but, always thankful for how many people do or re selling wouldn't be as big as it is.. Very cool little snap on tool box also, 👍👌

Think about all the experience in safe packaging you have, let alone all materials, an eBay reputation, storage shelving etc. Most people want to get rid of something and not sit on it. Most people won't even have an eBay account, which they'd have to make. Buy bubble wrap, buy boxes etc. I see what you mean but I'm not surprised people choose 10% value over just throwing stuff away in order not to deal with it.

Alot of people always like to blame it on drug abuse and sure some probably are but overall my point was re selling will always be a lucrative hustle and because there are so many people willing to sell things for Penny's on the dollar..

Open up the bottom of that turntable and check inside. Sounds like a blown capacitor. They do not age well and are going bad in vintage equipment. They explode and spew nasty smelling stuff. It will be obvious if that's what happened. But it's usually an easy and inexpensive repair. And if you have and vintage electronic equipment, it's good preventative maintenance to replace them.

I've heard that from someone I know that fixes electronics. It always amazes me how he brings things back from the "dead", it seems. I LOVE the vintage stuff, as it was made so much better back then! You could work on things buiilt back then... FAR better than making megatons of cheaply made junk, then spending untold amounts of water, energy, etc. "Recycling" it. I'll take well-made, fixable items over throw-away, "recyclable" junk any day! We need to go back to glaas & heavier metal & use FAR less plastics. Glass just takes heat to melt, doesn't leech chemicals into foods, babies mouths, etc. (As long as it's regular borosilicate glass, which most glass used for food storage.) Same is true, especially true, of cars. I scower through junk yards & have restored a car, & am working on another. I see cars being "salvaged" because of ridiculous state laws, overregulation, tons of sensors, car computers, etv. & some only need a small amount of work & parts (+ know-how) to fix them. I've seen cars being scrapped because someone didn't tighten the battery connections (quite a few actually), putting the wrong batteries in them (especially certain starter/accessory batteries on hybrids), & on & on. We've become a throw-away society, which it really sad. I hope we get back to well-made, fixable, more mechanically-driven cars, more wood, metal & glass overall in products. Locally there is a collection of 100+/- year-old cars from a museum that closed. Bodies are wood & metal, hand-crank starters, etc. I wish I had a 50-car garage! I would buy them all! Certainly safety has improved, but those things can be done with far better materials than many are... materials & engineering that's made to last a lifetime, or many lifetimes.

The one thing I could never get used to in Chi was the light difference one hour made. Every time I visited my mother during the winter, she would remind me it got dark way earlier than I was used to and not to stay out too late. Yeah, I was in my late 40s and early 50s then.
