My Dutch greatuncle, his German wife and theit two children lived there before, during and after the war. The children were never allowed to say they were Dutch as well as German, afraid of what would become of the family. Neither one of the parents were nazi party members. My greatuncle was a roofmaker. He had his own company and there was never shortage of work. My dad loved his uncle very much. As a child we used to visit them every year in Crailsheim for a couple of weeks. As a young woman, Iived in Crailsheim for a couple of years. I have fond memories about the town. These are the first images of Crailsheim during the war. In all the years I've spend and lived there, I never met a German who would speak about the war.

Antonia Merola-- I'm very happy for you, it's a beautiful town. I once was there in 1982 in the U.S.army, I loved that town.
