Bama is sitting at #3 in recruiting right now for 2025 and their roster is still pretty damn good right now. Yea I think they absolutely take a step back with Deboer, but nothing indicated they really fall off badly. Deboer is a better coach than anything LSU has had for a while. that's what he's missing

I was very critical early on but now looking at the rosters… BAMA = 15 x 5* Georgia = 14 x 5* Ohio St = 12 x 5* Then looking at next year’s depth chart. QB = # 3 in country possible Heisman trophy winner… RB’s = Top 3 OL -= IOL’s G C G = possibly Best in country 2 5* OT’s …. I’m not sure about the WR’s but the possibilities are OMG SO THE OFFENSE COULD BE BEST IN COUNTRY… DEFENSE The DL could be the BEST they have had in a while …. LB’s they have 5-6 x 5* on the Roster DB’s - I know they lost 4 starters HOWEVER THE POTENTIAL STARTERS AT CB ARE BOTH former 5*s S’s and Star Makichi Moore is pre-season 1st team All American… The transfer from Michigan is a BEAST EVEN THE K is a pre-season AA AND THE P IS A PRE SEASON AA so I’m not saying they’re gonna win the national championship next year but they could …. and I know the other side of that is they could lose four games… Heck, there’s six games on the schedule that are usable if they were to lose to say South Carolina kinda like a trap game I mean they could turn upside down but they could also go undefeated if they can get past George…. I keep saying seeing people say he’s proven he can recruit. He’s gonna need to get a couple of five stars before I am completely sold on that. Agree with the gist of his message. Deboer was the only one on his staff that wanted to go to. I am rooting for him to fail. He accepted the job after the Sugar Bowl and checked out then. He needs to win 2 for Alabama to care. Brian Kelly is a top 3 or top 5 coach for sure. But Deboer is the best coach in the country. I hope he fails miserably but that's the truth.

After Nick left LSU it took a long time for Leslie to mess it up. Not that Leslie was a bad coach. He just didn't progress with the times. Never threw to a TE. back then teams players couldn't just all dip from the team to another on a whim.. the program and talent still kept its structure for a few years, just like how Coker won at Miami with Butch Davis rosters.. Now Bamas 5 stars left already so it's gonna be his roster faster than anyone wanted it to be.. I wouldn't bet against Deboer. Saban would have two more natty's but the last 5 or 6 years he couldn't keep a good coaching staff because they thought he could retire anytime. @@seektruth814he went to the playoffs with a starting roster that was filled with Chris Petersens last three years. Ranked 16th, 15th and 18th. The only years he was involved in Washington recruiting, they were 59th, 29th and 30th. Over half his starting roster were 5th/6th year guys. The 59th ranked class wasn’t really his fault at all. They went 4-8 in 2021 and he got hired in Nov so he had minimal impact on that class. He’ll definitely have more talent at Alabama, but he’ll also be playing more talented teams. That knife cuts both ways.

Alabama fans don’t care - at all, not even a little bit - what you think about them. Alabama is the most successful program in the history of college football, and it was so prior to Nick Saban’s arrival in Tuscaloosa. There’s a relationship between the sustainment of Alabama’s football success and the expectations of the fanbase for more national championships. What you label irrationality in fan expectations is a nonnegotiable element of the coaching experience at Alabama.

Most of the Bama fans I know realize that what Saban did isn’t repeatable. Most people want 9-3 or 10-2 this year which I think is reasonable. Yeah you have some looney tunes who say 12-0 but most don’t believe that’s real. As far as “being stunned” we still have one of the best rosters in the sport. No one is keeping a roster like they used to. Georgia even lost 20 to the portal. That’s just reality.

Look at what happened to Frank Solich at Nebraska after Tom left. Alabama fans will not be happy with 10-2 or 9-3. Saban had a better run than Tom did and Nebraska fired Solich for 10-2 and 9-3 seasons.

Right, as a new football head coach transferring programs, you have to/are expected to go 11-2, or 12-1, 13-0 your first season- that is the standard. Yes, Sonny Dykes did it his 1st season at TCU. Is that the case for every new football coach? ABSOLUTELY NOT. When Saban started his first season, it was not perfect nor was it anything like I said above. You'd be crazy to think Alabama would rid itself of their new coach for the 1st season, that would be absolutely absurd and stupid and the undoing of a football dynasty.
