I think Ohio State and Miami were generally ignoring DJU, although some rumors had both as interested, but those two and FSU were all three after Cam Ward. I think FSU and OSU saw Ward wavering on whether or not he would declare for the draft, and saw Miami stay on steady. It's really how Ohio State got Howard. He was big on Miami's radar, but I don't know that they were giving him enough attention. As wild as this is, I don't think the bags OSU can offer...or could offer up to this point matched what the collectives down in Miami were throwing around.

Cam was never going to a school with Putrid OL, RB and WR play. On top of that, Norvell spent all his resources early on portal back ups with zero production and therefore did not have enough Money to compete with Miami’s offer.

Sad he interrupted himself about whether or not Miami was a title contender to talk about Ward (it was the topic, so fair), but I have to ask; Do you think Miami's defensive secondary is really a huge concern? Every acknowledged title contender has some pretty glaring flaws right now. Which teams are stopping Miami's offense consistently enough to make Miami's secondary come into play? They've punted 4 times in 4 games, they have 2 total turnovers (somehow no lost fumbles, just a bunch of fumbles they've recovered but they won't stay that lucky for a whole season), and they have 26 touchdowns to go with 6/7 from field goals which is wild to have a 3:1 success rate on converting a drive into a touchdown instead of a field goal. You can talk about competition, but it's the volume, the quality of the plays, and the diversity of the scoring. Who are you covering? 13 different players have a touchdown this year for Miami. Maybe try to cover Restrepo, he has 5 of his own to go along with 362 yards (that's paced for another 1,000+ yard year), but I haven't seen anyone yet who's capable. By position you've had slot receivers, deep balls, TEs, and RBs all go for scores. You talked about the speed Ward was playing at. I've noticed it, too. Dude looks like a 5 star recruit on a bad high school team. He's just so confident in what he's doing and what he's seeing that nothing's stressing him out. It's like a calculated nonchalance. He'd be tested more against better competition for sure, but I don't know if there's better enough to pressure through Miami's offensive line. They were this good last year as well. I'm pretty sure I found a stat from PFF that said of Tyler Van Dyke's 12 interceptions, 10 came while standing in a clean pocket. The team did still also average 5.5 ypc when taking out sacks, of which there were only 16 total across all QBs. Ward's been sacked twice this year, emphasizing not just that he's better talent at the position, but that the o-line is continuing their own upward trend from how good they were last year. Defensively I'm more concerned than I am about the offense, but less concerned than others I guess. Particularly after the USF game. It looked bad, but the reality was the Bull's only TD was on a trick play off a turnover that shouldn't have happened. Two of their field goals also came from 50+ (though they missed a short one at the end of the half sort of balancing out that fact). Most importantly, I don't know of many other teams that play as fast as USF does. Oklahoma State was a close second, but where I thought that was fast, the way USF played was mind bending. Nothing was set when they snapped that ball, including their own line. It did its job though, Miami in the first half was getting very little pressure up front, which is the strength of their complimentary play on that side of the ball. I can't think of any other teams that can mimic that performance. And if they can, then you're talking about Miami's havoc play up front coming back into play. Barring injuries, which is true for most top tier teams, opponents are going to have to outscore Miami. There are few teams that can hold them under 35, and fewer still under 30. How many teams do you think can do that who also have a dynamic enough offense to score more than 30 against a defense that has the most sacks and the second or third highest pressure rate in college football?
