Our version for 70 years is fresh cleaned cranberries chopped fine, sugar, pineapple and put in freezer. Take out and add whipped cream and cut marshmallows and slightly knead before serving. Of course substitute in this day and age crushed pineapple, mini marshmallows and Cool whip. It is lovely and traditional. I am from Minnesota and this can be found everywhere up there during the holidays. We eat the cranberries pulsed in the food processor. And I substitute Stevia.

Hi Danna! I made a slightly modified version of this today! Yummy!! Thank you (AND Ms. Connie) so much for the recipe. All the while I was growing up, my Mom made a version of this, but without the topping. The topping makes it extra special and yummy. My Mom would make it without cooking the cranberries. She put the cranberries through a grinder that clamped-onto the table, and we would each take turns grinding the cranberries. She'd use raspberry jello. She would not add any sugar, and along with adding the crushed pineapple and chopped pecans, she would finely chop a peeled apple and add it to the mixture. (I don't think she added mandarin oranges, but she might have.) I loved all of the flavors and textures, and I'm so used to having the cranberries without any extra sugar, that I really like that tartness. So with your recipe, I cooked the cranberries (which I have never done before for any recipe, so that was cool to learn how to do that, thank you), added Cherry jello (per Connie's recipe), then added the drained pineapple, chopped pecans and a peeled and chopped apple. Then I put it all into a metal bowl, covered it with plastic wrap, then made the topping, put it all in the fridge and waited not-so-patiently for it to be ready to eat! I really like it, and I'm glad I made it. Thank you again for the recipe(s).

We put it in a Christmas jello mold & popped it into the fridge to set. It looked beautiful to serve on a bed of greens & tasted delicious. Sometimes it was used as a side dish & other times dessert.

@bonniemoon6790Ай бұрын
Ive not made the recipe but similar stuff with cream cheese, and i do a lot of cooking/baking. I would think that you would only get a very mild taste of cream cheese what with all the coolwhip and marshmallow creme. I think it does more for texture rather than taste to help stabilize the marshmallow. If you dont like it as much id maybe half the cream cheese, if thats still too much for you you can always just go with the cool whip and a little bit of marshmallow creme or a mix in other flavors to the coolwhip thatd go nicely. Id test out these ideas first so you can taste and see what you like better :)

I'm not trying to be hateful or negative if I was going to make this recipe I would be substituting real ingredients and not chemical laden ingredients. Make your own snow with heavy whipping cream. Substitute the sugar for a keto sugar. Allulose or monk fruit is healthy and works great. you can also use a non-flavored grass-fed beef gelatin to make the so-called jello. Don't hate me.
