Just fitted, at least for the robot at the south location. At the north location they have it weld some things, but it regularly screws up in several ways. The welds regularly have horrendous undercut (sometimes on both sides) or cold roll. They're regularly undersized, and it causes a lot of rework. The robot at the south location just tacks things together. The robot at the north location welds some things, but it cannot fully weld a lot of stuff. When it does, it's usually terrible, either with weld defects, or things being out of square because it welds one side completely before doing the other, a 2-5 degree difference is not uncommon. It also cannot wrap corners This is all assuming it's fabricated correctly to begin with, and everything is in the right place. I've lost count of how many times I've had to cut things apart that've come off the robot. The running dimension for part layout is determined by the holes. If the holes are 3/16'' off from the overall of the beam, and the robot sets them "exactly" where they need to go, you've got 8 shear tabs over 40 feet of beam with 1/4'' welds on both sides that are off, and you've got to fix it. All because the robot does what it's told, and the robot operator (doing their best) also do what they're told. Management doesn't want the operator to take the time to do things correctly, and would rather have them push as much material as possible, regardless of rework time.

@YR7A o wow. maybe it's not quite there yet. we have a voortman v808 coper that we use as our entire beam line, and it has very very few errors. I've been interested in these assembly robots, but it would take up valuable space in my shop. I have concern about it's production rates. I didn't even think about whether it had errors or not. thanks
