Just discovered this video yesterday. This was by far the best and easiest tutorial on KZbin. I made mine out of leather, was a little harder and everything hand stitched, but it turned out so good! it looks like it’s bought from a high end store. Thanks again sir, I followed everything to a “T” and I was not disappointed. 👌🏾 I appreciate you posting this video. I will probably buy one of your dopp bags just to support, because I was so astounded somebody actually put up a free tutorial and didn’t try make money from it. You the real MVP John Crane.

Nice video. Just a word of advice. Keep an eye on that stamp. You really should grind the mushrooming off where you hit it with the hammer. Otherwise eventually a piece will break off, usually at very high speed, like a bullet.
@RightOnJonCrane Жыл бұрын
Very true! That does need a trim. It got a lot of use stamping over 400 steel bunk bed parts I did for a big job. Hasn’t gotten touch up in a while. And come to think of it, I’ll cut that whole handle off and weld on a new solid bar. The piece on there now is hollow. It was just what I had around in the scrap bin when I made it. Thanks for watching!

I am just a few minutes into this video and I have never seen your videos before and you just took the zipper pull off of the zipper and now I am a little horrified and also fascinated to see how you resolve this fatal dilemma. I know it must be resolvable, but I don’t know how. I am going to be making one of these bags for my husband and I’m planning on using denim from a pair of jeans that I made him give me after he ripped them in an unfortunate area that was not repairable. I already used the top part to make myself a skirt so we’ll see how the rest of this goes.

I noticed several questions about zipper placement, I wasn’t clear whether the zip teeth were placed facing up on the outer fabric. Zip teeth are always placed down toward the outside of the fabric so that when it’s sewn and flipped, the teeth are up and the outside of fabric is up.

@RightOnJonCrane Жыл бұрын
Right On! 🙌Thanks for watching! It all depends on the zipper. Some have a top and bottom and some can go either way. If the teeth have a direction the bottom should out before sewing. Then flip the bag inside out. It is nice to get those two way zipper then there is no worries. Hope that helps!
