Thanks, the "weak spring" fix did the job! Be warned folks when disassembling this thing: you *will* lose the tiny spring, and it is incredibly hard to see since it looks the same as a stray beard hair.

I fooled around trying many different binders/fillers for many different repairs including sodium bicarbonate which came in 2nd place for me depending on what I am using it for. I believe in my opinion at least that cigarette ash works best for hardness. I thought ash is ash, so I tried several different kinds of ash including paper and wood ash, but the cigarette ash seems to be the strongest/hardest. Kind of like the Mohs scale that measures rock hardness. I have not specifically used an activator but when I want a quick set, I spray a cheap 50% or higher isopropyl alcohol on it to make it set instantly. I wipe my tip really quick so as not to stick, with a rag or paper towel or pretty much anything within reach. The point is always wipe quickly the tip after each use. Moisture/Humidity causes the glue to set, and moisture wears on the glue as well so for maintaining the unused glue life store it in a dry place. Notice many people mention the refrigerator for storing, that's because refrigerators remove moisture. I always keep open cookies and crackers in the refrigerator for the same reason. [[[i

If I understand correctly. You don’t need the WiFi version if you use Apple Home and have a home hub in Bluetooth range. Saves you $100 and extends battery life.

Schuyler does not prevent leaks, that dude in the KZbin videos “not you Sir” needs to show his two days certification of graduation before he makes videos. The bread and butter of Schuyler kerdi is designed to sit in between the plastic sealing all-set or thinset. The thinset is the sealant not the roll of kerdi or kerdi band. The porous surface in the kerdi is to allow the bonding between the thinset you apply under the kerdi sheets and the later you apply for tile. One main cause of leaks to cut it short: is uneven surfaces, not applying enough allset, or siam in between the kerdi thinset and the flange or the lip of shower pan.

There are thousands of kerdi showers holding up just fine. I personally know of 1 that was done 17 years ago and not a leak at all. As far as a steam shower, they tell you kerdi isn't meant for steam showers because of the perm rating. That's on you for not following the directions. Also, kerdi isnt designed to make a tub out of it. It's designed for a shower and sheding water.

For the same cost you can purchase the Laticrete products that can be used for swimming pools. I don’t want something that just sheds water and can potentially leak at the seams. I’ve seen the videos of the Kerdi disintegrating. If I’m building a shower it better be water proof not water resistant. Go with laticrete. Put it in a pool or in your shower. 🏊 Hydroban XP

@RightOnJonCrane how come you can barely find any real world reviews on the product?

I've been having this exact issue, and changing the battery would help a tiny bit, but it was still super sloppy. Adjusting the spring like you said worked PERFECTLY, and the lock works 100% of the time now. Such a relief. Thank you!
@1974jrod7 күн бұрын
You should have just used latticrete membrane in the first place. Thats all you would have need for the steam shower.
@RightOnJonCrane7 күн бұрын
I agree! I had already bought the Schluter and then found out it leaks. Laticrete is the way to go. I would still put a coat of Hydroban XP over everything just to seal up any potential leaky seams.

Thanks for that. I am struggling with an Albrecht-type keyless chuck where the spindle is stuck. It is fully wound into the body and won't unwind out. I know it's a left hand thread. Do you have any suggestions for a remedy?
@RossMarsden7 күн бұрын
I have freed it! I made a 3 legged spider to go in the spindle. That end went in my lathe jaws heald steady with a wrench, and I gronked a bit on the shank while it was aligned by a centre in the tailstock.

My lock does that, but... it will stop working for a few hours and spins freely (all the lights and beeps happen as normal) but then the next day it works correct again for a while. I'm going to phone Schlage and see what they say, because it's still under warranty.

Thank you so much for the help here. I've been fighting the same problem (mine has a handle) and I took it apart as you showed and reseated the spring and it's better then new. Amazing how simple that fix was. Thanks so much!!!

If the hole is drilled off at an angle it is most important to tap the hole at the same angle as it was drilled. Otherwise the tap will be unequally loaded as it tries to cut through. Increasing the chance of tap breakage.

There is a screw there for a reason, makes it easy to take apart to sharpen and have nothing flopping about. smh
@MakerBoyOldBoy14 күн бұрын
Unsaid but crucial is shown by the original maching marks perpendicular to the cutting edge. The filing in the video is at an angle rather than following the original machining marks. Okay, but less effective. The sharp edge is important, but the slight bur on the cutting edge grips the fabric stationary so the sharp edged shear the fabric. Without the slight hrabbinh bur the shearing action simply pushes the fabric rather yhan cutting.

Thank you for this! My 16-year-old son and I were able to fix our lock. The error I made was that after I watched your video & fixed the pin & spring that was mis-positioned, I installed it back with the deadbolt in the "out" position. Which humorously allowed us to press "schlage button" turn, and it unlocked without a code! My son solved it, looked at it, and said Mom I think you installed it with the bolt out, sure enough, he was correct.
