Those nuts you are using on the windage tray are good in theory but when they are tightened they remove material from windage tray. Good way to get metal shavings in engine. Just torque one down and then remove it and you will see what i mean.

I wonder if you could freeze the pickup tube assembly, and heat the oil pump, enough to make the tube slip easily into the pump. Opinions?

Not sure..... I have never measured how much interference there is between them... It seems like it would have to help....

Question about the studs for the windage tray. My motor does not have the studs for the tray. I got the studs and the tray. My question is when installing the studs if I do 1 at a time do I have to follow the bolt pattern when torqueing them? If I do how do I follow the pattern if I'm not replacing every crankshaft bearing bolt
@Myersmetalworks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Henry.... I would do it one bolt at a time on one main cap at a time no special order...Take one bolt out, install new bolt with stud and torque, then move to the next bolt in the same cap and remove it and install bolt with stud and torque, and move to next cap... Im sure there are other opinion on how to install them, but this is how I would do it, if I did the job.... Thanks....

@@Myersmetalworks thanks for the reply. This is what I planned in doing I just wanted to make sure I'm not going to throw the Crank out of wack on a brand new engine

Wow! You have skills. But buddy, if your time is worth anything, you just spent a butt load of time and effort to do what most guys would do with a open end line wrench or something. ;) ;) However, if you got thousands of dollars of equipment, years of machining experience, and are having fun, who cares?!?! :) :)
