This is the absolute best video on replacing an oil seal on my Kawasaki 19 I’ve seen.

Wow just wow, you got into the meat and potatoes of that thing 👍 great lesson, good thing you had time to repair it now instead of during your season. Thank you for the video sir 👍😎🇺🇸

Great video Mark. I have put the old seal on top of the new one & pound on the old seal. Thanks for sharing.

That engine will be getting worked on again shortly, connecting rod went through the side of the crank case.

Wow - That was impressive! You made it look so easy. I have learned a ton watching your repairs - enjoy those videos the most 😀. I wonder if you have ever encountered this…. I have a 13 yr old Scag Tiger Cat (STC52V-25CV) with a Kohler engine and the oil drain elbow fitting isn’t full tight to block (when I tighten the small shut off nut on the elbow it also turns the entire elbow). It doesn’t leak, but as I look at it I don’t see how it can be removed / replaced without lifting the engine. It seems the small hole in the frame that the drain elbow drops through would block the drain from being unscrewed from engine. I was curious if you have seen this issue - seems like a bad design, but I may be missing something. Thanks again for the great repair videos.

Lifting the engine is what you will have to do. The factory probably had a newbie installing that and didn’t tighten it all the way.

Got it - Thank you Mark!

Nice video, by the way... On my 25hp you don't have to remove the 10mm bolts that hold the initial plastic cover, just loosen them... Also if I'm careful the air filter assembly can stay where it is as well.

I have the exact same mower, need to do this to mine. What did you torque that to?
@sherrischneider27942 жыл бұрын
Better check those valve guides. That motor was running hot because of the blocked air fins. Need better maintenance.

And resurfacing heads required also

That was one summer's worth, he does maintain it.

And if the magnets are out to far does it make it hard to start?

Really it’s best to take of covers and clean block really good every year After all it’s a 15/18 k machine Cost about 180 bucks for good cleaning now

$15 would have bought 2 mowers 3 years ago, repairs and maintenance cannot be ignored with the prices of parts and mowers these days.
@8307c49 ай бұрын
Yes, those Kawasakis have a knack of attracting dirt in those fins and then the engine runs hotter...

Hi Mark it's art, the top crank shaft seal, mine leaks to I'm going to fix it this winter, my question is, can a motor blow from that seal leaking, or is it just unsafe because the oil can build up under the cover and catch fire? I took my cover off and oil was everywhere so I took it to the car wash and power washed it now it's not smelling bad and it's running cooler, but I still have to put a new seal in it, thanks.
@Marksmisfitworld2 жыл бұрын
No it will not blow, just be hard starting when warm and leaking oil.

Mark what's the tork on that flywheel? I just used a impact, but do I have to tork it? What's the reason to tork? Can it hurt the motor if it's to tight? Thanks

Torque

Pop it on with a 1/2" impact, don't go crazy with that.

Hi Mark it's art, I did my crank seal, but I took my magnets off, I wish I didn't, do you know what the gap is, at first I turned it by hand and it hit so I pulled the magnets all the way back, it runs but if I gun it it clacks for a second but then runs ok, can they be out to far?...thanks, it's just sitting till I figure it out,
@8307c49 ай бұрын
The gap, you can stick a business card between the magnets and the coil, tighten it down, then do the other same way.
@drakewesterman97982 жыл бұрын
I think I might have to do this to my mower.

The magnets can't be out to far because the are on the outside of the fly wheel

They do leak as bad as a old DD engine lolol Seems after 4/6 years just pull engine and tare it down, replace gaskets and all seals Then go to go for other 4/6 years
