"Depending on the water temperature, try one or the other." Thanks for the information. Could you be more vague with that statement? It really tells me nothing.

Fish are cold blooded and their metabolism is controlled to a high degree by the water temp. Some fish under the ice go completely lethargic. Others still remain active, but move slower. So if the water is colder like early and late in the year (after & before ice-up), fish can be less active and a slower side-to-side "jerkbait" presentation will work best. If the water is warmer and the fish are more active a faster "continuous" presentation will work best like a crankbait. Hope this clears things up...God bless you.

I’m confused when to use either of these Baits, she. Do I use jerk and when do I use crank ?

Simple formula: cold water conditions/fish less active - "jerkbait" side-to-side action. warmer water conditions/fish more active - "crankbait" steady retrieve fast or slow depending on their mood...God bless you.

I could've bought fish to eat for a year with all the crank and jerk baits that I've bought. I have yet catch any with those!
