I have a CD-03 with a specified swimming depth of 2 feet to 3 feet. Does that mean it stops sinking at that depth??? And so it sinks for 2 or 3 seconds only (at aprox 1 foot per second)?

Would be nice to see how you’d weight the lines and show reeling technique.

I use size 7 and size 9 countdowns for walleye in the river where i live. In shallow water. No counting, just cast, rod tip down jerking in a downward motion. Jerk and pause, sometimes 3 jerks and pause. When you pause you will feel what feels like your hung up so you set the hook its either a walleye or the bottom. Husky jerks and original floaters dont work for them its something about the countdown's action they like. Only colors that seem to work are the two original colors.

I went out on my row boat trolling a bunch of different spoons and plugs on leadcore with no luck. Tried a jointed rapala about 25 ft down and BAM huge brown trout

Water flows slower bellow the water surface due to friction? I have to slow my nymphs when fly fishing so to have a natural drift.

I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

Been using 832 leadcore for several month, once new, lead came out easily. Now it seems lead is glued to lead and cannot peel back. Any trick to peel it back to be able to make a knot?

Started fishing with CPs as a kid in early 90s. Unless you are casting a feeder, the distance with CP is laughable compared to any spinner reel. Cheap and dirty CPs are good for vertical jigging, icefishing, catfishing from a boat. Haven’t tried to cast really big pile lures, maybe there a CP can work just as good as baitcaster, but I seriously doubt it won’t eat off 1/3 of the distance to prevent backlash.

I have an affinity for fishing rivers too, but have never used a centrepin. I totally get the idea with the spool letting off line almost in unison with the river, but with ever changing weather I just feel casting and general management would be that much harder. Great video though. The 2 minutes explained everything perfect 👍

I do agree with you, but if you are fishing salmon/steelhead in Pacific Northwest, the centerpin takes your game to the next level. I couldn’t stop catching using a center to float eggs while the rest of anglers got no bite using same bait but spinnings and bait caster. It indeed makes difference.

If you're tying a leader on your braid, definitely go with a Fluorocarbon line. Yes, you can tie 8 lb Sufix Fluoro Leader to 15 lb Braid.

I use nothing but sinking rapalas here in Wyoming now. I used to use a variety of spinners, spoons, live bait like nightcrawlers, ect… until I mastered the rapala. Now there’s no need to use anything else. You less likely to snag, have the fish swallow the hook, and hood into them everytime if used correctly. The only decision I need to make is size and color. Thanks Rapala for making such a great lure for fishing! It’s also so much funner catching them too. When wanting only larger fish, you put a larger rapala on, and your Gina know right away your not wasting your time with small fish.

Absolutely love this video. Very informative and well explained in a clear to understand manner. I have always wanted a modern bait caster and bought one today and this helped me to understand it. The old open reel casters of my youth were completely different and it was thumb on all the time (they are still around but improved), this is an improvement for me I have to adjust too. Been awhile since I have been fishing, figured this would help motivate me to get back into it.

Yep, we are one of the original companies that started the rattle trap with the Rattlin' Rap. No jointed version, but these two lures will get the job done.

My comfort level with jigging below ice is about a 3 out of 10 . Couple of my friends that I’ve gone with this year have mastered it and they are slaying walleye. They say that their electronics make all the difference in the world. I don’t use it. I may have to invest in some thing
