This video implies that some service professionals don't know this.! We have a 2008 Honda Accord 4cyl with a crank but no start problem. As I type, the car sits dead in our driveway. We just replaced the crankshaft position sensor with a new one from Honda and it didn't improve the situation. The ngksparkplugs part lookup says possible reprogram on this CPS! There is another video of a respected service professional tearing his hair out because two crankshaft position sensors he installed in a row did not solve the no-start problem. The third one he installed worked. People are saying they're often bad right out of the box when according to your video they may just need to be programmed. The history of our car's crank but no start began with a failing starter that engaged with the flywheel only after several tries. The engine always started though right up to the starter's last gasp of life. We had Japanese Auto Repair replace the old starter and after they did, the car would crank fine but wouldn't start. They told us we have a bad connecting rod which is BS and didn't believe me when I said the car ran smooth with no knocks right up to the day the starter died.

Did you find that the reluctor ring was bad?

We had the car towed to Honda Carland. They have a great mechanic there familiar with the peculiarities of this engine. Turns out the sprocket on the camshaft needed replacing as did the chain tensioner. The chain had jumped a few teeth. I don't remember if the CPS was an issue but I don't think it was. @@ngksparkplugsusa

Bro are you seriously saying that oh all service professionals know every single thing absolutely not I'm so f****** positive You did not just say that there are people that know every single thing there is to know about s*** that they work on that's completely and entirely false to even insinuate with the beginning of your comment that's just absolute lunacy

Not sure what you are talking about. Anyway, we did finally get the car repaired. We went to the local Honda dealership where they work on Hondas all the time. They were familiar with the problem, unlike an auto repair business we went to originally that advertises being an expert on ALL Japanese cars.@@mikewazowski7830

Put ur car in park then neutral and put on the handbrake then rev the engine constantly for like 10 or 15 seconds straight and that should do the job

Would it not be sufficient for a vehicle battery just to be disconnected for a couple of minutes for say a crankshaft position sensor to learn from a clean platform?

This method works within a rebuilt engine? I rebuilt a 1.4TFSI because of the piston rings but we are getting p0321 codes in the scanner even though the sensor is still in good condition

Replaced the engine on my 13’ GT and have been dealing with this for the past couple weeks. Did a few relearns and even swapped it with the sensor in the old one (it was replaced about a year ago) and did another relearn after. No code yet but still getting the same symptoms. Do the relearns take a drive cycle or two to actually reset and fix or is there still a problem?
