The air pre filter is supposed to have a little oil on it after washing it out to catch fine particulates of dust before it reaches the paper filter.
@crankysports2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know, but even without oil it works

Boy it doesn’t get any better than that! What a great score brother James, and no predator swap needed lol
@crankysports3 жыл бұрын

What a find!! Lucky guy!!! I've got a twin to that one that my dad bought new in 1969. I'd love to have a matched pair!! 😁 Also have a 72 15hp and a 78 GT 14 Varidrive. Love these old suburbans!!!

And dont run them on gumout.....the rings are scraping a dry bore even dryer. Pull the fuel line at the carb and run some gas thru the hose to remove dirt. Use 2 stroke gas to start up too.
@crankysports11 ай бұрын
2 stroke gas is always a good idea.
@will7its Жыл бұрын
First thing you should do is loosen plug and blow off dirt and squirt a bunch of 50/50 gas and oil in there to lube everything. Dont get dirt in there. Dry starts ruin more motors than anything.

My grandpa had a 70 hydrotrac 12 was sitting in the garage since he passed away in 2005 he was sick for years before he passed so I’d guess it sat for at least 20 years last year I dumped some gas it it and it fired right up and still haven’t had to pull the carb off.
@crankysports3 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome!

@@crankysports that’s all it took to fuel the addiction he only had a snow plow for it so I went to pick up a mower deck and ended up with another tractor then a guy put 5 tractors up on marketplace for 400$ so now I have a full garage 😂
@crankysports3 жыл бұрын
@@ethanwimer8487 yeah kind of how my addiction started too. I have a bunch now

I swear it's a blessing and a curse when they come to life that easy. Makes you really scratch your head and say why was this parked so long?
@crankysports3 жыл бұрын
I know the clutch spring is broken.

What do you do about the blow by?
@crankysports Жыл бұрын
Usually nothing- put thicker oil in, use some “restore” in your oil, maybe run some marvel mystery oil to see if rings loosen up, but mostly just run them
