Oh neat, giving them a critical weakness is nifty for folks that manage to find it out (I'm guessing it's revealed closer to when you're "supposed" to fight him?). I just learned you can parry projectiles and reflect them which now makes me very curious as to how far that can be applied.

Very clean! Did the same issue happened to you during it's 5-hit combo where it would miss the third hit making you miss the parry window and getting hit by the next attack?

I did notice some trouble with that combo as the speed between the second and third hit was what was tripping me up.

Parrying is definitely better if pulled off so making that work is impressive. It was just 1am for me and I was looking for alternatives to just try and get it done. I also didn't fully realize the grab could be parried.

I had to increase the party window. Some parts and enemies are way harder than Elden ring ever was. Game is amazing.

Agreed, it's been a lot of fun. Curiously I've found this much easier than Elden Ring - I'm usually very rubbish at the game and can't parry worth a damn. I'll be having to do an 80's training montage to get ready for the DLC.

How? I don't know how this youtuber avoided it but everytime I fight him I am also being attacked by fish and other crabs. It's super aggravating and I just dont' want to fight him anymore. It's not fun.

@@chefroxstarr9467well personally when I fought him it was near the entrance to the grove, I think this person fought him there as well. There the only enemies you need to fight beforehand are two fish who swim by the entrance, if you take them out then you don’t need to worry about enemies.

HOw are you not being attacked by all the fish and crabs in the area? I can't fight him without fighting 3 or 4 other creatures which makes it impossible to focus on him and he breaks my shell in one or two hits.

I fought him immediately outside of town by taking a left from the bridge. There wasn't anything in that area and it was a quick run back when dying.

@@CrankyTemplar How did you avoid his grab attack where you eats you and its instant death? I can avoid his other attacks by dodging but that one I can't figure out if my timing is wrong or I have to dodge in a certain direction? I tend to dodge backwards or to the side (mostly backwards).

You should just be able to dodge the grab attack. It looks like it also is parryable since I did it in the video but most times I just dodge backwards.

I have done it before, I think it's only possible because it's grab also counts as an attack since it's not necessarily "grabbing" you. It's just sticking you to the end of the fork Yk?

I just cheesed him ngl, not over the cliff way. But whenever I needed to heal I backed off into the town area and then he went underground, then returned to a trigger spot so that he came back. Healthbar stayed the same, so I stayed relatively safe even if I died 30 times.

It's a parry. I'm not sure why it wouldn't register as a parry for you if you're doing it right.

@@CrankyTemplar its my bad man i feel so dumb, i actually at that point of the game didnt know how to get upgrades and had alooot of upgrading points and never knew how to use them intel i felt like this boss really need a parry so i searched a bit and saw ur vid then said to myself why not try to upgrade myself not rushing thro the game Now ive beaten the game its easy compared to other souls likes tho it got some hard areas but bosses never made a challenge for me after ive got the parry thing, tho i gotta admit i really liked that parry and played bosses hundreds of times just to get hitless or only one hit ( ive never tried to do that in other souls likes ) And thanks so much for making me know there is a parry

@@MrMichaelmayo92 In my experience, 2 bananas is what you'll need if you want to completely kill him without hitting him once. One banana is enough to deal a huge amount of his health, but you'll still need to finish him off yourself.

I think it's not all attacks but some of them. For instance, the blue attack where Pagurus makes a stab and takes your shell can be parried but his big slam attack doesn't look like it can be parried. I didn't think his grab could be parried but saw it occurred here.

It can be equipped in one of three stowaway slots and will presumably revive you if you die (and then it'll disappear). There's another one that will save your microplastics if you die.

You dodged his fury swipes by parrying and then reposting. Was that the only way you could figure out how to dodge that? I've tried dodging Left, Right, backwards, into him you name it.

That was the most consistent way I found but another fellow named chobijas parried the entire thing (I'd typically mess up on the third hit). I'm not sure if dodging the entire thing works depending on how close you start to him.

Im a bit confused on how you parry, do you block at the right time or come out at the right time?

Once you buy the parry skill you have to hold block and release it right as the attack lands.

You need to first learn the skill after meeting the Moon Snail for 5 crystals (highly recommended you pick up Riposte as soon as you can if you intend to parry a lot). Then right click to start blocking and let go right before an attack hits. If done correctly you'll parry it (and with Riposte if you immediately attack after the parry you'll do a counterattack). You also need to be wearing a shell to parry unless you buy the Natural Defenses skill for 50 crystals to parry without one.
