Stunning views and perfect hiking weather and that home for the night looks real cool, shame you could not get to the top of the fire tower but the views were amazing with out it. Loved the inside of the cabin and real good to see you back to full fitness now and guess what, I had a scan last week and got told I have gallstones 😫. Nice way to travel by horse, never been on one but my brothers partner has two of them and spends a lot of time with them. I love the fact you can have a campfire on an evening, such a bonus, awesome place! Cheers Alan

OMG Alan, get those gallstones taken care of. I still have to have more procedures done due to them. I have a stent inside another stint still in my common bile duct. They are going to try to remove both of them at the end of Sept. If they can't get the original one out (the one that broke in half and unraveled), I'll have to have a bypass. Fingers crossed. Sometimes, the best laid plans... But it's good to be flexible and willing to pivot. I'm glad you found a better way to enjoy the time you had left up there! I know I can't stay in the same place with absolutely nothing to do like that- I'd wanna hike!! But it sounds like there wasn't anywhere else to really hike from there. Looks like a beautiful park overall! I really want to get out there and hike, because it's just so different from here.

Yep! I was criticized in another comment because I said there was nothing to do there. They are obviously not a regular viewer of mine. Of course, I could make a fire, widdle wood, sit in a rocking chair, meditate, forest bathe, or sleep in.... but that is not how I wanted to enjoy this particular location. Too much to see and do than stay in 1 place for too long. But if that's how someone else chooses to spend their time in nature, good for them. I chose to spend my time differently. Sorry, just had to get that out there. ~RVA~

Hi and thanks, RVA for sharing. Indeed, it's such a beauty of the building and also the view from here...3:36 Cool, firepower..reminds me of I visited Clingmans Dome, the highest point of The Great Smokey Mountains. I was fortunate to see seven states: Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, and Mississippi. And there was a fire tower as well. Wwoooow...This cabin is like 5-star hotel, clean and simple, but everything that you need is here....7:15...😲😲indeed, double toilets in 1 bathroom I have never seen. I think there are various kinds of cabins, especially these days. Some cabins are truly luxurious with hot tubs and chandeliers. (That's not my thing). But the 2 cabins in this video are different with amenities. Primitive to me is no water, no electricity in an off-grid location. The ones in the main part of the park had water, and power and were among the other cabins. The camp store, horse stables, playgrounds, and picnic areas were close by. Both are great to stay in though. Nice hearing from you Ron. ~RVA~

Good morning right back at ya! Had trouble uploading this video, so it was a little late coming out. It took almost 2 days to upload, and before that I had some storage issues trying to export it since it was such a big file. Behind the scenes of vlogging isn't always the most pleasant experience. But it finally is out and I can share this amazing place with everyone! Yes I can see how that antique stove would bring up memories of the big bad wolf and little red riding hood. I wish it was a bit cooler, I would have loved to made a fire in there. Not quite the season for that though. Come on Fall! ~RVA~

I'm a little confused as to nothing to do there. Looks like a wonderful place to enjoy the great outdoors. You can put down a heavy pack & do some day hikes if as you say you can't sit still. When one makes a reservation & does not use it, it takes away the opportunity for others that might have wanted to reserve for that time but couldn't.
@RVAHikerGirl
@RVAHikerGirl 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, you were confused. But there is not a lot to do at the primitive cabin. (It's more of a sit still and relax kind of place.) After hiking the Millers Run Trail, there are no other trails around that area that connect unless you hike back to the trailhead or rewalk the same trail again and again. I would have been up there for 2 days with no place to hike. I am not a sit still for long kind of person. So after speaking with the park ranger they offered to move me to a cabin down in the park for the 2nd night to be closer to some of the other trails. So I took them up on their offer. When I go to places I like to explore the area and see and do as much as I can, not just sit still in 1 place. I can assure you I did not take away an opportunity from anyone else. The park was virtually empty during the middle of the week. I never saw a single sole the whole 1st day I was there. Both primitive tent sites were open, and 3 of 4 of the Tentrr campsites were not being used. I would say maybe out of 27 to 30 cabins there, only 5 were rented. There were plenty of places for people to camp for the night all over the park. ~RVA~
