This vid shows the bracketing and cable runs. Lots of vids about overhauling and tuning these carburettors not many about the actual install, carby kit didn’t come with any instructions in the kit.
I have since found out that the carburettor has been installed 180 degrees out. Apart from the issue with the throttle cable the MG ran perfectly, didn’t find any reason to change it around.

Hate to break it to u, the fuel bowl side goes towards the front of the car , this is why your throttle cable don’t line up

Hey Valentin, Thank you very much for this I'll certainly check that out, I did try the Weber the other way around however the diagram / picture I had showed it the way it is so I went that way. Ha! Great, again thank you. Engine runs fine and goes well, it'll be interesting to see where the return spring fits in, nobody else picked this up.

@@CrapToCream there is a little flat bracket that comes in the kit for the throttle spring , fits on the intake bolt against the throttle bracket.

Hi Ron, Thank you, the carby works for me and I haven't seen a lot of the stuff Jeff mentions, it's what Jeff has seen and experienced, everyone is entitled to their opinion, all good, thank you for the support 👍

Morning Jeff, I'm going to use a 45DCOE on my latest MG project, I'll see how that goes. I also get were and where mixed up occasionally, nothing snobby about being eddumacated :).

@@jeffhildreth9244Thats actually funny 🤣 observations are only fact if we assume you understood everything involved, and also saw everything involved and your "Facts" reflect that. So since we don't know all of that, this infact means your observations are infact your opinion and only that. It is possible that you don't understand everything you have ever seen, thus your seeing it doesn't make it fact.

Just my opinion. The downdraft Weber is junk. A very poor substitute for a proper set of SUs. You have already experienced that these are NOT a dedicated carb for a B.. they are "universal" . They get poor fuel mileage, are notchy owing to "universal" jetting.. and they are easily overheated causing fuel percolation. And the worst of these are the latest ones made in Spain, not Italy. Consider this .. the air fuel mix goes straight down then makes a 90 degree turn.. a complete joke. I have considerable experience with these and when found, replace them immediately. If you are going to use a WEBER on a B.. get a proper DCOE 45 made in ITALY.

Hi Jeff, I must be one of the lucky ones, my B has run a lot better since installing the Weber downdraft, I considered the DCOE however opted for the DGV in the end to give it a go. My fuel consumption has improved together with the pick up. One of my SU's was quite badly worn and damaged, trying to get a new set or secondhand reasonably priced was not happening so I thought I would give the DGV a go, so far not disappointed.

@@CrapToCream Next.... Carbs are often blamed for the real problem. If SUs were superior.. they would have been installed at the factory. This is not the case. SU carbs are far superior. Note that no MGB racer would ever install a Weber down draft. A 45 DCOE.. maybe.. but most use the SU , though other carbs are permitted. My experience ( over 50 years to include several years working at an official BMC dealership, 3rd largest in the western US.) ..... is that there is no finer nor appropriate carb for a Brit car/MGB than the SU. I wouldn't use a Weber carb to propel a lawn mower. Other's may differ. Good luck with yours.

@@jeffhildreth9244 I sense some real passion here Jeff, good on ya, appreciate your opinion. Opinions may differ and that's fine, understand completely, the world would be very boring if we all agreed on everything. Would appear we are of a similar vintage with similar experience. For me the Weber was just a simple easy to fit option, that for me works and was readily available at a reasonable cost. I've still got my SU's and have since overhauled them with an overhaul kit I got on line, also got meeself a whizz bang balancer now. You are right about the problems being elsewhere by the way, my leaded head valve seats were not the best by any stretch, i've now fitted an unleaded head and rings and everything is a world better than it was.

@@CrapToCream MY passion is simply pointing out that the Weber is a "way out" not a fix. This same carb is the choice of Jeep 6 cylinder replacements. and many other cars. They are the universal lazy way out and are not the answer. The SU is simple. Parts are available and there are carb specialists that can over haul these SUs like buttering toast for breakfast, no big deal. A friend just sent his off to a specialist. $450 for overhauling the set. Compare that to the cost of the Weber and manifold and the resulting performance of a 90 degree turn in the air fuel flow, vapor lock, poor performance and fuel mileage. As to my experience.. Brit cars since 1964.. I'll 76 in 10 days. Working on a friend's TF tomorrow, Over the last couple months resurrected my 90 year old friend's 1970 MGB that had not been driven for 15 years. Installed a TR6 Diff for another friend last week Just did the rear brakes, steering box , clutch slave, and much more on a 1967 GT....... All for folks that have "aged out" or hit a financial wall or, infirm etc.... Luckily I have a stash of parts and a little bit of time. Never Weber.

Hi Jeff, Assuming you are still reading the comments, in your opinion if I had the option to fit HS4 carburetors or a pair of HIF4 Carburetors which ones would you install?

Hi Fred, Thank you, Valetin has already pointed this out i'm onto it as soon as I can get around to it, runs ok as it is however the throttle cable angle will be better the other way around. Hope you enjoy the other videos.
