Where did you get the updated Weber air filter with the hose port right in the filter ? Is there a part number ?
@nouseformyname37884 жыл бұрын
Sir, you are incorrect as to the recommendation from Weber regarding the small plastic fitting at the base of the supplied air cleaner. That fitting is there to be connected to the INLET side of the engine ventilation circuit (ie-to supply filtered air, usually to a ventilation intake on a valve cover). The engine blowby (out of the PCV valve) is typically plumbed directly into the intake manifold between the carburetor and head. This information is directly from genuine Weber 32/36 DGV installation instructions.

I wouldn't connect any hose to the air cleaner. Rather just use catch can and let the crank care pressure to go through special filter into outside air. Like it was done before emission control.

I love you, this video triggered me so much as I was watching it hahaha im a 3rd yr apprentice and I know this stuff
@nouseformyname37882 жыл бұрын
@@0hjaa3.06 this works, but the reason PCV is still in use is because it helps apply a slight vacuum to the crankcase under certain operating conditions which can help pull the rings into the cylinder walls, which can help them seal, which makes everything work better, including reducing blow by!

Cool intro. Wow, I have a weber and I just got that same air filter. I will look over it and see about more air. Thank you for this.

Sir your total wrong on the size of the fitting being too small to ventilate the internal pressure of the engine ! There is no way an engine can produce the amount of internal pressure you speaking of from the supplied fitting that comes with the Weber Carburetor ! If an engine is building that much internal pressure to blow out any seals , you have major wear on the piston rings or cylinder walls and pumping compression into the sump ! The Weber supplied fitting is at least a 3/8 ID which is more than sufficient to vent the engine. If having to use a 1/2 hose to vent the internal pressure of a engine is a sure sign it's time for an overhaul .

sir would I be able to put a ramflo 1000 on this carb with this engine. I have a 1971 mg midget.

As a previous MG owner, I prefer the SU carburetor. Why all the hype about Weber carbs exists is beyond me. The Weber lovers try to "fix something that isn't brroke" when they supposedly, "upgrade" to Weber's. SU carbs are simple and adjustable. They work.
@MultiPetercool2 жыл бұрын
Understand that late model MGB's had the "Stromberg Strangler" carb and the air pump. Removing those and adding a Weber was and still is a decent low-cost upgrade! ;)

@@MultiPetercool BLMC's approach to safety and emissions was terrible. My experiences with the BMC models were wonderful. In the 1970's the British government jumped in to help Leyland destroy the previously successful BMC cars. All the Japanese auto manufacturers had to do was sit back and watch the British car industry implode. So sad....

What about the vacuum for the distributor advance? Where should it be connected to the carburetor? Thanks.

Hello, long time watcher new MGB owner- Good Day to you! Thank you so much for the videos and the expertise you share! This kind of resource is invaluable I currently have this similar weber conversion on "Shakira" it seems to work alright . I do have a question about reverse lights as mine were both disconnected and once re-connected (new bulbs) did not illuminate, traced the GN and G wire to a reverse lamp switch in manual schematic (also has the 3 wires fused to 1 in the boot which appears as a dot on wiring diagram) runs up on the passenger underside connecting to switch near gear box- Do these go bad ? could you perhaps do a video on this scenario - Thanks Again Phillip

Great video! Two questions: 1. I am installing. weber on a 73' midget and and curious if there is some case up if the improved inlet on the filter you show here and 2. are you suggesting no PCV valve? Many thanks!

Just run the breather into the air cleaner - with a decent size inlet

it almost looks like you drilled through the k&n filter and ran the hose into a fitting installed on the filter. Is that right?

Seth Jones It would have been very helpful to see what he did.

Seth Jones Yes, I drilled a hole right through the air filter and used a fitting I purchased at NAPA with a nut on the back.

Universitymotorsltd Just guessing clearance issues prevent the addition of an L shaped pipe to the top plate on the filter. Is that right?

Hi John, you said the SUs provide "better driveability" what does that mean? I have twin SU's that I've spent a small fortune on with the local carburettor "expert" and it still runs like rubbish and was looking at replacing them with the weber. What issues are there in terms of power, performance and reliability with the weber vs SU twin carbs?
@toddavies13263 жыл бұрын
What’s the issues with the su’s ? Weber’s / su’s - you can get both to run great
