As a tip, when you have that "crease" you were talking about, you can fix it in PS as follows: 1. merge image so you have the motion-blurred image as a single layer 2. Filter - Other - Offset and put something like 150-200px 3. With the image shifted horizontally with the amount of px you've set earlier, you can now see the seam. 4. Select the seam (full height) with rectangular marquee tool, about 50 px width 5. Feather selection - 3-5 px 6. Apply horizontal motion blur. Hope it helps.

Hi Jeff, love your work!!!, did you use any lights or only the hdri? could you shere the render settings please. Thanks!
@JeffPatton4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ciprian, Correct, the only light source for the image is the HDRI. I don't have the file loaded onto my workstation any longer but use the default values for global illumination and it'll be fine. Run some test renders on your scene with the denoiser enabled to find a good target for the render times & acceptable noise levels.

first off all thanks for video. I want to ask ; Is there any solution for cropping to hdr? as you known, its diffucult to match scale between scene and enviroment when used hdr
@JeffPatton5 жыл бұрын
You may be able to use the X/Y/Z offsets (plus the dome radius of course) to help to a degree....but in many instances there are things in the HDR/EXR that can't be avoided and ruin the scale with your scene. Just have to try and locate another HDR/EXR that works better with the scene or build the environment. :/

how did you setup up your hdri, shadowcatcher. Still struggling to get close to your results
@JeffPatton4 жыл бұрын
Here's some tips for setting up the dome environment with shadow catcher: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5S9aJ5sd6-XaZI There's not a universal setting that will work for every HDR/EXR since they are captured at different heights and distances to objects, etc.. The dome projection effect can be hit-or-miss depending on the HDR/EXR location and size.

@JeffPatton4 жыл бұрын
It's a home built system: 1950x (16 core) on an ASUS ROG STRIX x399-E Gaming MB with 64 GB ram. The GPU's aren't doing much here but they are (2) 2080 ti's. The CPU render speed (on high resolution shots) isn't that great with this setup TBH. I'll probably end up building a new one this year with one of the new high core count AMDs...once those CPUs has been out for a while and tested.

nice, noticed that u rigged the wheels, and add motion blur - can explain how? thnx :)
@JeffPatton5 жыл бұрын
You can animate the geometry itself. However, I typically link the rotating parts (wheels/tires/brakes in this scenario) to a dummy helper object (or car rig) and animate that dummy helper instead. Easier to work with the helper object than all the individual parts. will you ever do a shading tutorial? I think we are all wishing for one
@JeffPatton5 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't think there's anything unique to the material configurations I use. Most of them are rather basic in fact. I'm not sure I can offer a unique aspect to material creation that isn't already covered somewhere else. Is there a specific topic that you think would be helpful?
@dasnico135 жыл бұрын
@@JeffPatton thank you for the reply. t be honest I don't really find any good resources for a good car paint shader in 3ds max. I mean it really doesn't have to be a you tube video people are willing to pay for your knowledge. Like for example What makes a realistic car shader realistic?

@@dasnico13 - These are good IMHO: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppyqZKxrqNB0sJI kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmfKZKmBdpmfmrs kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5WtYXRqfJihmcU Based in Corona Render but the concepts are common across most render engines. Also, if you use FStorm I shared some car paint materials on my site here: jeffpatton.net/fstorm-paints/
@JeffPatton5 жыл бұрын
@@dasnico13 - Also check out Grant Warwicks VRay tutorials & twitch channel for in-depth discussions on realistic materials & scenes. He goes to great (aka crazy) details on making materials as realistic as possible and does it extremely well. In addition to materials, the scene itself also plays a huge role in realism so we really have to consider every aspect. Grant's lighting classes help on that front as well. He really ties everything together nicely.

What is the difference between backplate and hdri you have mention in the video?
@JeffPatton5 жыл бұрын
A backplate is a static image/photo whereas the HDRI/EXR is a 360 panoramic image.
@jackieteh5 жыл бұрын
Jeff Patton normally hdri will see blur, but backplate is better quality right?
@JeffPatton5 жыл бұрын
@@jackieteh Correct. With a backplate you have a set resolution that you're working with. The HDR/EXR the blurring is dependent on the resolution of the HDRI/EXR & your camera/render output size.
