So if I'm correct, the levels in CB2 take place on the same islands as CB1. I never knew that for all the years I played those games as a kid. But just days ago I found an official map from Naughty-dog online showing where the CB2 levels take place on the islands. Apparently the 'road to ruin' levels take place in the same location as 'the lost city' and 'sunset vista' from CB1.

They do. Look up the Wumpa islands on Google. Also look it up on Google images and you'll see a map that they do. Just like you, I've never seen the connection till now. I always thought the levels were in a different setting. What an amazing game.

4 years too late, but if you want to play the day version, play Sunset Vista in the original CB. This is that exact same level, but later. Every level in CB2 takes place in CB1. Look at the background, it's Cortex Castle, just like in the Sunset Vista level of CB1
