There's a glitch at 36:37 where you can go over the gap with the speedboost if you cross the gap at a specific point (near the very edge of the road). That lets you skip the ramp+gap and keep the speedboost.

The first time I ever did the time trials for both Eggipus Rex and Hot Coco I got the platinum relics. In fact, they were the first times I had ever gotten platinum relics in the game. I had no idea what the time limits were for even sapphire, and since they are secret levels meant for the hardcore/skilled fans, I assumed the time trials would be difficult so I rushed through them, and I guess it paid off. I didn't even hit nearly the same amount of time crates you did in Hot Coco, I just went straight to getting rid of the Nitros and hit whatever was on the way there and on the way back.

Actually, you can get the others (at least according to the Crash Wiki), but you'd probably have to go purposefully slow. And I wasn't saying it was hard to get either one, I'm well aware they're probably the easiest platinum relics in the game, I was just surprised when I got them.

this is so unsatisfying to watch, but also informative: I did complete the game to 105% (or did it go even higher like 110/115% with the hidden and bonus levels?) but I've always been convinced that you could not get platinum if you got stuck even for a moment or missed a box, which you do plenty of. I can not describe the sadness I felt the last time I did a playthrough of this game, discovering how worse I got with age; it was truly depressing.

+Joel Sinclair Aku Aku is forbidden in Hot Coco. If you enter the level with an Aku Aku mask, it will be gone before you spawn. Also, you can do it in under 2 seconds by using the waves to do a little hop over the nitros.

Robinson2511 its because of the clock speeds. the NTSC version runs at a faster clock speed than the PAL I'm pretty sure. that's why the world records are so much lower for NTSC times I'm pretty sure.

Nop. Ironically in running levels, PAL WRs are lower (5 seconds I guess. That's so much!) than the NTCS WRs. In PAL, Crash goes faster than in NTCS when he is running

in the European version they bumped all the times up a level. to get sapphire you had to beat the usual gold time and so on. To get the platinums you have to beat the developers best times

It depends on the version. NTSC (the American one) is a free platinum, PAL (the European one) requires beating time from the video.
