Crash Bandicoot 4 N. Hanced (Mod) - All Master Time Relics

This video shows my best runs in Crash Bandicoot 4: N. Hanced Edition. It's a mod for Crash 4 that completely overhauls the gameplay, including the addition of Master Time Relics, replacing the purple Toys For Bob Time Relics. These are an even harder challenge for those who love the time trials and want to perfect each level.
All 4 relic tiers have new times in the mod to account for the changed level designs and time trial mechanics (including the new hyperspin move).

An explanation for some of mechanics that were used in these runs:
- The Hyperspin is an upgraded version of the triple spin, which allows you to keep the max speed as long as you keeping spinning, instead of having the speed reset after the third spin. This allows the player to go much faster, because the max speed is double that of simply walking. As a result, the player can cross large gaps, or skip jumping on certain platforms.
- The slide-spin is another speed technique. It can be chained just like a normal spin ("hyper-slidespin"), and you can also alternate spinning and slide-spinning depending on the situation. Hyper-slidespin is faster than hyperspin, so it's preferable to slidespin whenever possible (on the ground), and spinning when it's not (in the air). However, to keep the slide spin chain, you shouldn't slide until the current spin has finished, otherwise the slide will cancel the spin, and therefore the chain.
The slide-spin is also very useful for crossing over gaps without losing speed, because unlike the slide-jump, which nullifies momentum, the slide-spin keeps your speed. You can slide-spin off the edges of platforms and you can still use the double jump, provided you don't time it too late. Crash will noticably slow down and lose a bit of height some time after the slide-spin is executed, you can only double jump if you do the first jump before that happens.
- Akano has a trick that allows you to go at really fast speeds. If you do a fast spin (the second or third in the triple-spin sequence), and you activate Akano while Crash/Coco is still spinning, Akano will keep the momentum of the faster speed, until you either pull back, or land on the ground and slow down naturally. The closer you activate Akano to the beginning of the spin, the faster speed you will have. This trick can also be done while airborne, however, after a double jump, there's a slight waiting period, as the double jump completely nullifies Crash's momentum, and needs a little time to go back to normal pace.
- With Dingo's vacuum, if you keep jumping while holding the vacuum button, you can suck up crates without slowing down (as he usually does when you're vacuuming while on the ground).

Have you thought about adding back the speed shoes? I guess they'd be redundant given the hyperspin, plus creating new running animations would be tough, but given that mask powers can be mapped to Y, that could free up R2 for sprinting FANTASTIC mod, I'd love to see N Sanely Perfect Relics next!

This is just insane! I had already heard of this mod but I never had a look at what it offers. I've been away from this game mainly since the Any% record but I still have it on Steam and play "casually" from time to time but now I do really need to install this and try it myself. The fact that the TS now doesn't reset its an absolute game changer. It could be a great way to start this by grinding Cortex Castle again lol. 😅 You've done a massive work with this mod.

Listen, everything about this mod is perfect and I haven't tried it yet the way to get skins, only two gems every level, and the alternate character stages only being the alternate characters, are all awesome. I don't even I need to mention the improved time trials. Trying to get all the platinums right in og crash 4 and it's pain now only needing the sapphire'sis infintly easier. Hope u can do a wrath of cortex mod, not because it's hard or anything but I've never played wrath of cortex and would happily play the n hanced version if u were to make one.

Wait I just noticed something in the video; is there a CTR-esque time deduction if you break all the time boxes??? Cuz your end time in A Real Grind shifted from 0.30.21 all the way to 0.25.82. If that is the case then hot damn that's crazy 4:36 - 4:48 for timestamp

Not all boxes, but whatever time stored left that is freezing the clock. This is a feature in the vanilla game as well. A first for the series outside of CTR and CNK, which required you to break all boxes for the 10 second reduction.

Hi, I'm going through the game at 106% right now, I'm interested in one question, in order to complete the game at 106%, it is necessary to knock out all 38 platinum relics in the game, or you can just knock out any, as it turns out, so that there is just any relic in the game. And yet, what is a relic of full enthusiasm in the game, I accidentally got one, and saw that I needed 38 of them, everything was necessary for 106% of them, and how to get them, I thought first I had to go through the levels without death, well, I passed some levels, I only have one, what exactly is needed to do this, like collect all the boxes without ever dying in the level?

You only need sapphire time relics for the bonus endings, anything above that is completely optional (platinums give 2% extra though). N.Sanely perfect relics are also optional. (You get them by breaking all crates without dying)

At 24:47 why did the frozen clock count 23.21 seconds when the final time result ended up showing 15.21 seconds? That's a whole 8 seconds missing. Splice, glitch or something else?

The game has a mechanic where if you have X seconds of frozen time left, that will be deducted from your finishing time. There are quite a few time crates right before the end, plus the detonator also breaks a 3s time crate that I left behind at the beginning (on top of a Nitro). This time deduction works like this in the unmodded version as well.

I'm guessing that obviously each level is structured in such a way to the point it isn't possible without cheating. And if that's the case, aren't there some crates you can't reach whilst blazing through a level but can get blown up by adjacent nitro crates by hitting the detonator in the end? That would technically deduct seconds from the timer, right?

@@YummyWhiteLiquid It's possible to have a negative time, in fact it's been done (without cheating) in both Crash 4 and CTR, the latter game having a 10s reduction if you break all time crates. Leaving time crates that are next to Nitros is sometimes beneficial, as you would waste more time going after them manually than having the detonator break them. (Though in the unmodded version, there's a bug where Nitros that aren't normally Nitros don't break time crates if exploded with the detonator)

The slide-spin can be chained just like normal spins, and since the triple spin speed doesn't reset in the mod, you can slide spin at high speed indefinitely. Though I also have a lot of practice in the game, so it's both. 😅

I think it's pretty even between those 2, maybe master relics are a tad bit harder. You have to be very practiced at the game's mechanics and know the levels inside-out to do either of these. The challenge is different in either case though. The lack of the triple spin makes the purple relic times very strict, so you have to be _very_ efficient and slide-spin constantly, even off the edges of platforms. Master relics are all about keeping the spin chain going, using it to cross over large gaps, and even alternating spins and slide-spins. (Slide-spin chaining is faster, so it's preferable to do that while on the ground)

In truck stopped at 9:40 you go straight from Tawna's section into Crash already at the end of the level, your level timer is even the exact same. Shouldn't it go into the ball rolling section first when you finish Tawna's part?

Same with Dingo's section ending at 12:13, I assume you have a mod installed that skips you to the end of the level in the levels that have alternate characters, which honestly I can't even complain about the levels should have been that way to begin with.

Timeline levels have been cut off at the end of the alternate character section in the N.Hanced mod (to reduce forced repetition of the Crash/Coco section). The relic times are accomodated to the change.
