I just 106% this game this morning, and all I can say is good luck, Lew. Seeing Double and The Crate Escape were the most painful relics I've ever experienced in Crash's history.

17:20 - the explanation is that any crates there were initially not nitros in the normal level will not blow up time crates next to it. It was a bug that I think was introduced with the update that came with the ports.

My theory is that when you beat dingodile’s section, it deloads everything in bat section. Cause I’m pretty sure the nitros do detonate

You're still making steady progress, Lewis! The levels you've got coming up are 4 of the most brutal in the game, especially Toxic Tunnels and Seeing Double, so absolute best of luck to you when you get to them, and for your N. Sanely Perfect journey. Personally, I've not tackled many platinum relics in this game, but all I can say is adapt, improvise, overcome, power through these levels, and remember that any time crates next to nitros in alternate timeline levels before the character switch will NOT be broken by the detonator, you unfortunately suffered this in Rush Hour, where maybe over 10s of time was lost due to this. It really shouldn't happen, but hopefully the crates you do come across won't be too dangerous to break. And above all, keep your enjoyment of these relics at a max and try not to get too tired out, you're always free to take a break.

And now the Cortex Islands levels. Man, I started my own completion series (all collectibles, not just relics) of NST and this game when you were doing Crash 2 relics and I've been stuck on Toxic Tunnels for a few weeks (because I was putting off doing it). I tried it today and managed to improve my golden time, but was still like 10 seconds off platinum. I also tried Cortex Castle at one point and it felt similarly difficult. I haven't had issues like these with plats since Stormy Ascent, which I considered to be the most difficult one of NST.

My biggest issue with Rush Hour was the Nitro switch not getting any of the time crates for me. Other than that, not really a hard time trial. It's just a very long level that takes more time to retry

I somehow managed to get Platinum on both Rush Hour and The Crate Escape when getting all of the trophies. These Time Trials are more horrendous to beat compared to the N. Sane Trilogy

Since Cortex Castle is approaching, there are two major damage boost shortcuts (second one in Seeing Double as well) to make even the purple relic easy. However, you are going to deal with the "Kaizo level".

yeah honestly I think what you said about rush hour perfectly describes a fairly big problem with crash 4; hugely long levels which are just monotonous and take 5 years to complete, with a bollocks section right at the end which is easy to fail so you have to go all the way back to the beginning and then do it all over again. thankfully the times seem to reflect that, and none are absolutely insanely hard..

It’s actually the one of the easiest relics. It’s difficult to figure out that gauntlet the first time you go through, but after that it’s just fun, relic or not. And you can make mistakes. The time is relatively lenient

Cortex Island, the final Cortex stage especially, made me wanna quit life going for the platinum. I don't recall Cortex Castle being too bad surprisingly compared to the rest though. Mileage may vary. But good god that Cortex level. Good luck. (I can't wait for Lewis to first try it now LOL)

Yo Lewis trust me those cockroaches in the sewer levels are gonna piss you off just like the snipers did in the spaceship levels they just seem to like to zap and stay electrical for SO long. Even when you can slow down time they are just a nuisance! Oh yeah and you got another cortex level to go through man if you thought the last one was fine enough this one is just stupid they place time crates inside those tiny areas and the best strategy is to shoot them while youre on the moving platform so you dont waste time going inside but the htiboxes can be so picky that if you arent pixel perfect the shot will hit the door frame it ruins the stage for me. Plus those lasers you gotta just learn when and where is the best optimal play to use your aku to skip instead of wait and then of course you got those evil robots that like to snipe you as well the level just sucks it gets easier when we get to the crahs part as unbelievable as it sounds since crashes stage ends with that crazy mask part swapping in and out of them but its actually not too bad and actually really fun once you get the hang of it. 4 relics away man you can do it its just that these last 4 stages are some of the most annoying stages in the game except for Cortex castle that stage is legit fun

Yeah, these last levels are just way too long for no reason. If Toys For Bob ever makes a Crash 5, I hope they trim the fat that made Crash 4 seem way too bloated. I can go back to play the original Crash trilogy pretty easily even though there are some levels that can be rough. Crash 4, on the other hand, is one of those games where I just was kind of one and done after beating it. While Crash 4 is a solid game, there are a lot of parts that are just a chore to even get through. More content doesn't necessarily mean more fun!

I don't understand how you can leave the relic crates that are near nitro crates unbroken even though you yourself said that sometimes the detonator doesn't destroy all the nitro crates. Why leave it to chance even?

Don’t you want to get the crates by the nitros before the detonator? Why would you want to get all those seconds at the end of the level? Does it subtract those seconds from the time you had? It just seems like a waste of those crates to me.

Most unbearable thing about this level is just that it's a marathon with its most difficult section at the very end. So every time you fail you have to slog through like 3-4 minutes of a fairly easy level.
