It takes the melody of the original theme and adds it into this banger. Thats why it hits you it the feels, the melody is what youve been hearing the entire time playing the game but in a new way.

This is just amazing, really feels like a duel in a dramatic sunset between man and mutant. I'm also amazed by how they managed to make Cortex like the modern Cortex we know (Lex Lang), but they also made him sound as evil as the original Cortex.

Then the Bandicoot saw the red blur as it hovered towards his direction. It stopped a few feet above him and the hovercraft’s owner looked down at Crash with hatred. All of his hard work, his research...up in flames. All because of one of his own. A failed experiment. It was time to depose of it. ”Darn you, Crash Bandicoot!” Dr Neo Cortex snarled, his ray gun at the ready.

I love how the final boss of Crash 1 taking place in the backdrop of Cortex's burning lair really gives you an idea of just how much of a thorn in his side Crash really was, and Cortex confronting Crash personally on a blimp with such a sinister theme playing tells you that the mad scientist is absolutely DONE with Crash's continued existence.

I already liked the original version of this song, but DAMN, I think this one is even better! because it amplifies even more the emotions that this theme evokes. Here it makes Cortex sound even more intimidating, even more foreboding and even more threatening, and for good reason, he's the one who created YOU, and then 0:39 hits, for me, in the original, it made it sound like the fight was getting a bit more complicated, with Cortex starting to shoot a larger array of blasma beams while you were trying to pay attention to hit the green ones, but here it actually sounds... Hopeful? You are almost at the end of your journey, and you are this close to save your (presumably) girlfriend, and now you're finally face to face with your creator, the most dangerous man in this island, but all odds seems to be on your side, you've come way too far just to fail at the end of your objective, and now, all you need to do is to stay focused and concentrate on defeating this mad scientist and put an end to his tyranny. (Sory 4 bed engrish me not speak american)

That might be because Cortex was voiced by Brendan O'Brian in the first game; Clancy Brown was brought on from the second game until Nitro Kart... Ironically, a game that VV also worked on!

Queen Tomyris of the Massagetae Good direction by VV. I will always prefer the original cortex voice actor but Lex Lang does a great job too. I have disliked a lot of the remade soundtracks so far but this one is faithful to the original and sounds great while some others sound so different in a bad way. They should have just updated the sounds with live instruments without trying to 'modernise it'. They'll most likely remaster CTR and I hope they seriously bring back Josh Mancell.

I think Josh Mancell turned down the offer of doing this games' remastered soundtrack. If that's the case, then what chance does he have of doing a CTR remaster soundtrack? And for the last time to EVERYONE that mentions it - how about an ACTUAL CTR2 instead?! (I'm sick of people asking for a CTR remaster when a new CTR would be better.)

Ehh.....I don't know, mate. I still believe Clancy Brown makes Cortex sound evil the most. But Lex Lang does such a great job giving a sinister Cortex impression as well, especially since he started voicing him in Twinsanity, where Cortex was had a more comedic roll.

They used staccato strings instead of the pizzicato (or plucked) strings in the intro cutscene. And I think you can even hear a choir in that version. It's a minor detail, but I really fell in love with that one

I like them both, but this feels a bit weaker on the bass side and doesn't have that much punch. That is where you nailed it. Otherwise they sound almost equal, it really feels like VV would've taken the inspration from your one rather than the original.
