Papu Papu is more from the Polynesian Islands, and not an Australian Aborigine. I know the game's set around Australia, but the locations are more Polynesian than Australian. Gaijin Goomba did a great video on the cultural origins.

Correction: the animal you showed for the bandicoots is not really a bandicoot, but a bilby, which is in the same family. Crash is based on the Eastern Barred Bandicoot. Also, it's Moritz, not Moris.
