DarkFrozenDepths That reminds me of Sonic Advance 2. There's a special idle animation for each character when you hold up on the D-Pad. Knuckles stretches for a bit then starts doing some quick jabs. And if any enemies come in contact with his fists when he does that, he destroys them. That's a nice touch. Lol.

Nitro Kart and Twinsanity did it alright IMO, but then again Nitro Kart I think had the best "older" Crash gang, keeping them recognizable yet also a bit more mature and older.
