I get it: You don't like anything Also... You complain about Crash 1's Cortex theme being too intense for a mortal fight of a broken mad cientist... And 2's for being too goofy for a yellow guy just getting away without any attacks... This review seems sooo bland, so poorly executed and sooo stereotypical that it only seems to be a parody...

Personally i loved the new soundtrack. Especially the new neo cortex theme. it's supposed to be the final showdown against a mad scientist and i feel they made it so much more epic. personally i didn't really mind any of the tracks but i did miss the creepy feel that Crash 1 had. You should listen to the uncompressed tracks of the original trilogy. Personally i think that should've been in the n sane trilogy

While I really dislike a lot of music present in N.Sane's updated soundtrack (notably Slippery Climb/Stormy Ascent's theme), I personally think Hang Eight is one of best tracks in the bunch. It's by far my favorite in the game, alongside the Crash 2 Cortex Hologram theme! With that being said, the track still has some issues in my eyes. Even though VV added more of the classic instruments to Hang Eight from what they showed off in pre-release trailers, I personally think the pre-release track was better than the final. The final seems like an 'in-between' point which tried to satisfy those wanting to hear something more in the lines of the pre-console version of Hang eight and a Hang eight arrangement from the ground up. It's a weird mashup of sorts that doesn't sound like it gels as well as it should. I still wish VV would have at least given players the option to play with the pre-console tracks in N.Sane. That would have not only let purists listen to the tracks they already know and love, but leave room for a little creative freedom in the rearranged tracks.

The music isn't a problem for me. The peoblem is they didn't test the game and we have a censored and glitchy downgrade from the originals. So why does this even exist?!!!

I definitely prefer the original soundtrack compared to the remastered version because the songs were able to draw me into the environments but in n sane trilogy it feels like they just mainly changed the priority of the instruments. The nature related levels don't sound usually I'm in a jungle or forest. Though this worries me if this comes up again if they were going to make a Spyro remaster.

Mancell's tracks are definitely better. Some of the remade tracks lost characteristics that made them unique. While I like some of the NSANE tracks, the depth of the original ones is gone. They tried too hard in modernizing most of them and using poor instrumental choices. Seems like VV and everyone else only focus on the visual overhaul, neglecting the musical aspects of the game. Lots of people say we're nitpicking. But us musicians, especially us ones who look up to Mancell, the VV tracks are not GREAT at all.

Most game's music is really off (Temple Ruins, Hang Eight, Sewer, N-Gin, N Tropy, Dingodile) and the added instruments sort off make the atmosphere fall apart (Road to Ruin, Toxic Waste, Generator Room + The lighting in that level, Upstream). I have no idea how people _claim_ that the newer music is better without having an ear bleed once in awhile. Seriously, listen to the Road to Ruin one and place either Egypt or China pic and you won't even know which theme it is.

The Crash 1 boulder levels as a whole were extremely disappointing. It feels like running away from a styrofoam ball now. I feel like the thing with remasters or video games is that when it comes to the OST, they try to make it sound more up-beat, and lively, and while this does work very well with a lot of the tracks like the Hogwild music, N.Sanity Beach, and the Tawna bonus minigame, it doesn’t work all that well with other tracks, It is disappointing, but not surprising, since this is a very common thing when it comes to remixes for remastered games.
@NIIVES7 жыл бұрын
Agree on certain things, disagree on other things. But what is definitely clear is that it could've been better. From the first moment I had some trouble with how the tracks were mastered. So much punch. Everything is highly compressed. I also can't get used to how all the music was reimagined into elevator music (traditional drum kit, electric bass guitar, DI recorded electric guitar and some cheap synths). That goes for the Crash 1 main theme as well. The audio team shouldn't have had so much freedom to experiment with instrumentation and stuff. It kinda goes against the idea of a remake.

My biggest beef with Toxic Waste was the lack of a *Squeak* in the music, I know that its a supreme nit pick, but I always felt that it was a clever addition given that all of that stage's enemies were all mutated rats. As for the rocket surfing levels, I honestly dig most of the instrumentation used in the remake, but I feel that at its climax, the part you labeled with "Brain Damage", got a bit to muddy, like if they fixed some of the audio levels in that part I feel that It could have been a good rendition. Also as a side note, I too really dug the new Dingo Dile remix, It just has a nice pace and energy to it, that the added electric guitar just so perfectly vibes with. All in all nice video, was considering doing a similar one, but now I might use different examples, if I ever get around to it. Cheers!

I think the song that bothered me most was the Sewer or Later levels. There's a very hollow, air-y percussion that leads into the song and it's too quiet and generic in the remaster. I think that's both what sets the mood for this sewer level and adds the cool ambience to it at the same time. The whole track seems lighter but I feel like the sewer levels were better with a kind of darker theme. Also felt like the incredible ambience set by the music in the first game was ruined too, like Road to Nowhere and Lights Out for example.

the beautiful thing about music is that it's so subjective. i've never met someone with the exact same taste and opinions as my own. here's my opinion. The soundtrack lacks consistency. there are really good tracks. but they mean nothing when they are bundled with really bad tracks. and lack of consistency like that is a detriment. i also think that overall, it sounds cheap. To me, it sounds like the music team was one dude with a cracked copy of Logic X, a cracked sound library, and an electric guitar. and it was all made with cheap midi. questionable choice in instrumentation aside, it sounds to me that the composer had no idea on music theory. because some of the notation is just incorrect. when all it took was applying a certain scale and transcribing. one track that comes to mind is the tomb theme in Crash 3. I think that all they needed to do was hire Josh Mancel. and have him touch up his pre-console mixes. which is less labour, and higher quality. tl:dr, Activision cheaped out on the music. it's low budget.

Having finished Crash 2 yesterday I was mystified by the moments where certain parts of a track just weren't there anymore. I also wish the music was a bit louder, the music feels like it's been pushed to the background more than before. Just my two cents on the soundtrack and some of your points: - Tawna bonus round track sounds to me like.... a bonus round track. Sure, not jungle-like, but it evokes a feeling of a reward. Like something out of a game show. - The melody in original Toxic Waste sounds like it should swap between a guitar and a bass. Although I still like the new version. - Yeah, Crash 2 intro seems off, it's missing some specific sound bytes. - Hang Eight seems way over the top - Bear It is still my favorite track from two, but some of the replacement instruments don't fit. - Crash 3's soundtrack in general I liked, especially Makin' Waves, Hang' Em High and Cortex's Theme. I wish they could release a soundtrack with both original tracks and the remade ones.

I think one of the main problems with the remastered soundtrack, at least for me, is it took away the uniqueness some of the soundtracks had. This is more apparent in CB2. A lot of the soundtracks in that game had themes that appealed to the levels. For example, snow go and the jungle levels. In the originals, the themes were unique to their levels, in the remaster they sound like generic video game music and were stripped of that uniqueness. For example, to me you can use the snow go theme on any other level and it would still be the same. Same can be said with the other tracks. You couldn't say the same with the originals.

Both The Remastered Music & The Original Music are Great in their own rights If we are talking about keeping the originals bit crushed music in the N.Sane Trilogy I don't think it would work with how the game looks, the realistic feel & look wouldn't work with the original versions, now if we are talking the originals coming out of their bit crushed forms I can see how they would work, the Sound clouds do sound great. The PS1 versions of the songs in Crash 1 do give me a Jungle Crazy Rhythm but the New PS4 Versions give me more of a Hawaiian Crazy Feel, especially with the groovy guitar making me imagine I'm at a pretty awesome Beach Party. The Dark Scary Area does look more lively in the Remastered so I understand why they made the song more lively which works just as good. As of Crash 2 It was impossible for me to tell the differences between original & the remaster, just a clean overhaul would be the only differences, both are amazing but do give me different feels. The PS1 Versions remind me of when I used to play in the Arcade but the PS4 versions remind me of getting ready to go on a Techno Ride. Now for Crash 3 the PS4 & PS1 both have the same feel in my case. I think the terms "Abused" & "Butchered" are over exaggerations, no one can truly "abuse" a game unless it was intentional, it's very clear that they did respect the PS1 originals. To truly Abuse music would be to pick up a Sledge hammer and break the entire set up. Both Tracks in all of the game have a Night & Day Effect. Crash 1 PS1 Felt like Night & Crash 1 PS4 Felt like Day Crash 2 PS1 had a Dark Techno & Environmental feel while Crash 2 PS4 Has a Lighter Techno & Environmental feel. Crash 3 in both is the same..mid-day feel.

Well that explains a lot. You played Crash games with the bad music, that it doesn't matter to you whenever the music's good or not.

Halfway through the vid. Actually the reimagining makes sense for one. THe sounds yu mentioned are pretty much the "lofi" versions of the moddern sounds, but maybe they could've picked different sounds that mimic the original versions more. I know how you feel though. I prefer some 16-bit songs to the new orchestration versions. It's something about the sound characteristic than the actual instrument. There is not always a 1 to 1 comparison when updating things. The ruin levels in Crash 2 have a mix of oriental and Arabic sounds because if you look at the samples used in the original one, one of the samples is a Thai horn. I will say though that as the games go on, Crash 3 got the worst of it. The spacy feel in Crash 2's title is gone and the future levels from Crash 3 sound like basic synth pop now.

@Biscuit-Triscuit7 жыл бұрын
I can't say I fully disagree with you but it seems like you were expecting it to be 100% just like the original games. You simply can't expect for everything to be the exact same. After all, this isn't Naughty Dog remaking the series, they came and gave the music they intended to. Also, when questioning why an evil genius like Cortex got a bad theme redo in Crash 2, I mean c'mon that fight is so garbage I don't think a good theme would be in sight. And again, VV was trying to make the game their own by doing the songs as they please

I do think Crash 2 is the worst musical-wise on the Nsane trilogy but I disagree almost completely with what songs I live over the old ones and what I'd like changed. For starters, Warped's Cortex Theme in the Nsane trilogy is, for me, the best final boss theme in the entire series to date.....I didnt like the original version so much (I used to prefer the CB2 one). The rest of my disagreements are very opinion-based tho....for example, I love the new Toxic waste theme because thats how I imagined it in my head whenever I heard the old one....but I can see why some people may dislike it (probably pictured or interpreted the original simplistic song in a different way). Because, thats the thing with simple things, they leave room for the imagination of the observer, so you can get a wider audience to like it....when you make simple things complex, theres no room for interpretation no more and the points of view tend to be more binary.

Overall I still enjoyed soundtrack if I'm honest, but the one thing that really got to me was the main theme of 2, about 10-11 seconds in, there's supposed to be that weird little noise that kinda sounds like a cricket, and it's entirely missing, add onto that the fact that, as you mentioned, it doesn't feel spacey at all, and it really let me down. Definitely the worst offender in my book. Excellent video too, keep up the great work!

I bought the game yesterday for PC. I'm 4:16 in, so I haven't even heard your own analyses yet. But yeah, the music isn't bad. It's just not nearly as good as the originals. The main melody blends into the accompaniment, which is very bad for certain levels. Intense songs (such as the boulder/bear/dinosaur runs) don't have any "oomph" to them at all, or the slightest bit of urgency, because the heavier beats blend into everything else. I don't think the music is bad. Just... so, so disappointing... END VIDEO EDIT: Huh. We agree on pretty much everything. Nice.

The N.Sane track...Just some love and hate. But many people want to shut people up and blame for nostagic reason,without reading carefully why people feel upset of the new track is stupid and no brains. The N.Sane had so much flaws on the Sound and Music.I wish they bring the original/pre-console one as option. Those are suppose How it should look likes.. One thing I disagree,the track on crash 3 done by vicarious vision had more damage than you think. Many track just not pitch correct sound correctly(hear it in first time might not get it.you had to hear it more time or even side by side.) Let compare it side by side Like medieval theme some composition just got detune or recompositing with no reason at all.. The Egyptian theme get incorrect composition melody...WTF,it more like a singer who going in concert but cannot remember their lyrics of the track.it is unacceptable mistakes ever.etc. Many track had too much "rock" style which didn't fit the level theme a lot... Sometime Subtle doesn't meant weak. Music also being part of how you say the story/the games theme of that level. N.Sane really did a poor jobs on them. All crash 1-3 can point out tons of flaws like incorrect instrumentation choice. generic sample from low quality FM Sythensis. DeTune the track which not suppose to. rewritten the composition,Make it all metal/rock style...etc. What I hate about is Activision and those fans had never did a good job to acknowledge enough of How Josh work on Crash 1-3... Just shut all opposite opinion as nitpicky or nostalgic. It just sad and unhealthy to game industries and player community.

The original music is owned by universal interactive and if they did include the original soundtrack they probably would have gotten sued and this trilogy would have gotten cancelled

That incorrect. The music now own by Activision because Activision bought Vivendi Universal in 2008.Otherwise Why new title need Activision permission to do so. .Even original Composer Josh Mancell had publicly said he is interest to come back and compose the N.Sane trilogy But Activision ignore, including the request of release of all crash game music CD format in ND Era..
