Crash Break Fast Cat Awesome Sailing

Fast catamaran ocean sailing the morning before tropical storm is due. The wind wasn't cranking but we had good pressure and just as Capt. Morgan Avery was "getting into the groove" the front cross beam breaks! Watch as we figure out how to get the boat back home in one piece.
Keep in mind this was the original beam and was 20 years old! We beat on this thing and it has really held up well. Time for an overhaul. Stay tuned.

All I can say is WOW! I can't believe it didn't completely de-mast on you. I would say that was a "good day". At least you made it back in on the jib. Could have been a lot worse. Great job guys! :-) Looking for new videos from you when you get it back together. What an awesome cat!

Thank you for the comment. Yes it was testament to the build quality of the cat. And the fast action by my intrepid crew Morgan Avery :). It’s still in pieces on vessel on st thomas. I hope to post more videos soon on a borrowed F18 infusion soon.

Yikes! Good jury rigging. I sail a Prindle 19, and I am going to have a good look at the dolphin striker and from cross beam before I go out next!

It looks like your dolphin striker strap broke at the starboard end first which dropped the mast on the front beam?
