Today we have breaking news. A Santa Fe oil train was traveling at medium speed when it hit the back of another train let’s go to our reporter at the accident.thats right the train was a Santa Fe oil train people at the railroad crossing saw the accident we’re with one of them.”I saw the train coming so I stopped like I was supposed to. My son was looking at the locomotives when he saw them crashed.he told me so I called 911 it was a really scary moment.”thanks for that.as now this stretch of road is closed off.the hazard team is handing it for now. As we know for now the switch wasn’t changed back the driver of the other train is going to be fired.

Thanks Lonnie, I’m with the engineer right now. So what exactly happened, “well the switch was set to our detour but we have no idea. Dispatch said the signals were clear, malfunction is what may have happened, this isn’t good as we have some very damaged locomotives, plus an ex-Amtrak EMD SDP40f”. You heard him Lewis back to you at the crossing.

We are with the railroad officers right now.”We encourage people to stay away from the manual switch and when we viewed the camera on the cross gate a few hours earlier someone switched it it wasn’t the train driver.so right now we are investigating it.”The Bnsf railway is being questioned right now.

The BNSF has responded. According to the CEO “BNSF has no idea with the issue of the switch, we have taken a look and it seems like a bunch of stuff was jammed into the track causing the switch not to work. This is a new line, we will work to replace the switch.” The BNSF has closed the line until 1/25/19 at 5:45 PM. All trains on the line have been rerouted and the cars have been taken by BNSF ex-Santa GE dash 8 863 and 857 with BNSF 7777. Back to you

Breaking News:A Santa Fe tanker train has crashed into a Misdirected Switch! At around 10:30 A.M., a Santa Fe Tank train was delivering empty tank cars to a yard for dropoff. The train stopped for an inspection on the Locomotives. After inspection, the train continued once again. At 10:45 A.M. the engineer was a split second diverted into a siding that had flatbeds and put on the emergency brakes. But it was too late. All 4 locomotives, and some of the tank cars derailed off the tracks. The ATSF railway has been dispatched to send 5 locomotives to do cleanup and other 2 locos were sent to deliver the tank cars.

Today, an engineer is currently facing felonies as they forget to set a switch, leading to a train crashing into the cars, which could be a 3rd degree felony! As the unit persisted through flat terrain, they come across a switch that seems to be set correctly. Until.. it happened. The train crew slammed their EOTD emergency brake, but at that point it was already too late... The train hits the back of the consist left on a siding at around 48 MPH, and then the crash happens. "I-I just can't believe I survived that!" Our train engineer says. The oil spill almost caused a massive explosion, luckily hazmat quickly contained it. "I was just minding my business railfanning, until a fucking TRAIN hits!" An upstander says. They helped the crew out and got them the correct treatment they needed.

On January 1 1985. A Santa Fe Tanker Train Was Heading to Los Angelos Yard. The train Had 115 Tankcars. Later at 5:15pm. The Dispatchers Switched The Tracks To The Wrong Side. Then Santa Fe #5674 Crashed into some intermodal Empty cars. On July 9 1985. It got scrapped Due to It Being old.

Why does the lead loco smoke so bad? Never heard of EPA rules? And why do the other locos not smoke at all? Aren't they doing anything? One more thing- the "camera" moves too much and too jerkily. Slow smooth pans would be much better. Other than these gripes your vids are great.

As dispatch would have played a role in the derailment after it had failed to reline the switch after the intermodial train was directed into a siding not before the oil train guided by pair of SD45-2B's and a F45 crashed into the back of the intermodial train.
