Videos like this make wish for a new Burnout game. BeamNG Drive does kinda satisfy the Crash mode itch but there just isn't a game that perfectly captures the fast paced, over-the-top chaos of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge.

@@PG-20 Wreckfest is a spiritual successor to FlatOut. It's not the same as Burnout. Burnout felt incredibly fast and frenetic with its brake-to-drift handling model and the ability to have unlimited boost. Wreckfest has a more weighty realistic feel which makes it feel less like you're constantly on the edge of control.

I am not going to count BeamNG or wreckfest because their main purpose is physics and soft body mechanics in the first place, so the actual Winner is GRID autosport, if it wasn't for the lame "career" mode it was gonna be in the debate of not only GRID but the best simcade game entirely.

Many of these games like Forza Horizon and motosport have settings so that collisions are more realistic, but in some of the games in the video the function is not activated. You know, I'm wondering why only games that have an emphasis on crashing have really good damage models these days, like BeamNG and Wreckfest. Those entire games were basically made to show how good crashing can be. I'm guessing real-life car manufacturers have just gotten stingy, aside from the Codemasters games from Grid Autosport to Dirt 4, most of the games with good damage models in this video have unlicened cars. The Crew has good damage modelling on the derby cars, but those are both unlicenced AND made to crash. Project Cars 1-2 and both Automobilista games are probably a second place for me in terms of licenced car damage (this video does a poor example of showing it as racing cars were used - the damage modelling is better on road cars).

the car damage models in GRID and DiRT got tone down to a point it can't be deformed and bodyparts don't come out so easily. DiRT Rally 2.0 if you have a puncture your wheel will just pop meanwhile in DiRT Rally 1 if you hit hard enough you actually lose your tire completely, windows don't get shattered and the impact of the crashs feels hollow. The difference between GRID 2/Autosport to GRID 2019/Legends really shows (heck in Legends got even more toned down)

Sad how Grid regressed in terms of crash physics. The first game, even though a bit exaggerated with the deformation, it nailed it. They just had to improve it. But I guess car makers didn't like how their cars deformed so we now have just a mediocre racing game.
