Crash sends vehicle over the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel

Virginia State Police are trying to recover a car that crashed into the water at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel. It happened around 7 a.m. Monday. Emily Harrison joins us live near the bridge with a closer look.

Anytime you’re driving over water, open your car window, then close it after you pass it, cause once your car is in the water most likely you’re not gonna be able to lower your window

I was going by when I saw it happen. It was very bad I cross that bridge every morning around that time going to work from Chesapeake to Hampton. It happened so fast all we could do is watch I wanted to help so freaking bad but that water is deep

I couldn't imagine. I cross it everyday to go to work in NN from Portsmouth. That is my worst fear 😢.
