To be clear, the pieces that you see breaking off the car between 1:24 and 1:46 are carbon fibre, not parts of the highlighted titanium roll structure. This part probably snapped to one side shortly after the initial impact and got trapped below the car until it saw a way out, as a whole, at 1:46. But no conclusive evidence can confirm this.
@prasannarajendran93152 жыл бұрын
Mate you are absolutely right about the Titanium roll structure, it didn't disintegrate and was found in one piece intact , the roll structure was completely sheared off from the car and bits of carbon fibre is seen. FIA has actually released the report on this incident which states the same. And great video, much hard work and effort. 👍

@alecbrown662 жыл бұрын
This is great animation. Seeing it live, the roll hoop had gone within seconds, and only the cage survived and kept Zho alive. This is doubly important as the roll hoop is used to lift a car out off the barriers, as well as the primary driver safety device. In some cars the turbo sits directly behind the drivers head. So if it collapses or breaks back as the car slides forward as in Zho's case, it could shatter the turbo housing and he would have been in lethal danger of the turbine and blades sawing into his crash helmet. The FIA need to get off their backsides and get much stronger and better roll hoops mandated, before some other driver gets killed by a roll hoop collapse.

Mate, you work is nothing short of spectacular. Probably one of the best pieces of talent displayed in any area that I've seen in my life. One day I would love to see the recreation of Spa/1998, but I understand the massive challenging of collecting all the data of the dynamics of each car in the melee and then reproduce it artistically. In this case, other crashes that would be very nice for us (and relatively feasible for you) are Alliot in Mexico/88, De Cesaris in Austria/85, Katayama in Portugal/95 and the two BARs in Belgium/99. Once again, thanks for your great job and keep it up.

This is remarkably well done. The accuracy was spot on. Tiny details like Russell's front wheels moving direction even modelled perfectly. The modelling of the cars was shockingly accurate. It gives a ton of clarity for an otherwise very difficult to see crash. My only criticism would be the underfloor strakes were incorrect as they all outwash very early as photos have shown. But considering how absolutely unimportant that is to the actual point of the video it's incredible that's all I could find wrong.
