I don't have skinny fingers but have other similar cultivars with a mix of unusual shaped leaves. I prefer the bright green leaves when not in full sun. Young cuttings this year had scale insects but then so did other succulents! Thank you.

There's so many of these cultivars i'm losing track now 😅 I really want to do a comparison video but i found plants like mini Hobbit, Shrek/ Ogre and a few other strange ones i've not heard of. Now i don't know if it's the case of people making stuff up or if they are legitimate new cultivars 😅😅 In any case, thanks for reminding me about scale insects, i often forget to include them in the videos as we don't get many here (🤞) but i'll make a note of it for the future 🙂

@@SucculentGrowingTipstwo years growing succulents and my first scale insects this winter 😞😭😭😭
@SucculentGrowingTips5 ай бұрын
@@marialakshmi2330 Oh no :( They can easily be eradicated with a Pyrethrum spray. I had a couple on a bunch of Syngonium some years back and just used the spray- they all died pretty quickly and i haven't really seen them since (touch wood)

I rescued one of these!! Thought it was just a sad ogre's ear till now, thank you! Bought it from poundland where all the cacti and jades were placed on the bottom shelf in total darkness 🙄 I thought she was a goner but just recently I've spotted tiny new growth ❤

Poor babies, i hate when stores do that. I'm sure she'll thank you by growing big and beautiful ☺💚💚💚

These are so tough! A friend dumped a bunch on me after using them in a flower display. They were out of soil for 8 months and 50 percent survived. The 3 I planted in the garden are red and still happy after 2 frosts this winter 😮

One of my favourite plants and first succulents I started growing. Its alien-esque appearance was such a alluring draw to me, had to have one. Since then, the succulent bite got me good 😁

Time fore a new addition to the collection? 😁😉 They tend to be quite common- if you have friends who grow succulents you may be able to score a freebie cutting 🙂

I appreciate your advice. I have loved growing mine but it's been bombarded by flat mites and I can't get rid of them no matter what. I've tried insecticide spray and fungicide spray, but it's still covered in black patches caused by the mites. Do you have any advice for getting rid of them?
@SucculentGrowingTips5 ай бұрын
Ohh no, sorry to hear that 😔 I have been lucky enough to never having to deal with flat mites/false spider mites, so much so, i had to google them as my first thought was that you were talking about scale insect. You should be able to get a miticide which is pesticide specifically designed for mites. Some people say spraying 70% alcohol solution will kill on contact too. If there are black spots as a result of mite damage, they are unlikely to go away. You may have to cut off the worst affected parts and wait for new, healthy growth...
@pizzapizza18985 ай бұрын
@@SucculentGrowingTips ok will try a miticide! And will let the plant outgrow the black patches, thank you for your help ❤️

Thank you. I always thought mine was called Gollum but after watching this I think it’s Skinny Fingers because it has a few of those fused leaves. Mine is 8 years old & still has never flowered! I’ve never ever seen one mealybug on this particular plant which is very relieving.

They are so similar it's a bit difficult to tell them apart unless you have them all next to each other. I was going to do a comparison video but realized i sold my last Hobbit 😅 This is the first time my 10 yo plant flowered! There are some succulents that grow so well but i've never seen the flower. 🤷♀
