Definitely safe! It is my favorite way to propagate. The only way you would get root rot in water is if you did not let the ends callous over before putting it in water.

Not sure if you mention this later in the vid, but I've had a strange, but apparently common issue when propagating a hobbit jade from leaf cuttings. The resulting plants all had leaves like a regular jade plant. I have only been able to propagate a new plant that has the tubular leaves by doing stem cuttings. Every time I've grown one from a detached leaf, it grows with standard leaves.

Excellent. Can you share me the video of Crassula ovata branch propagation in soil mixture, I want to know whether during propagation process the pot should be kept in direct sunlight , once I put the cutting in soil mixture should I water thoroughly then and during the successful rooting till 7 week what will be the. Watering schedule. Share me your video of branch propagation of Crassula ovata. Thank you. Deb, Calcutta.
@moodyblooms3 жыл бұрын
Cuttings should not be in direct sun as they will not have sufficient roots to be in full sun. They will like bright indirect sun. I let the ends callous over for 3-5 days before putting in soil. I wait to water until they have roots. After that I water once every 10 days or so. I will add a specific propagation video for Jade soon.

I really enjoyed your informative video! I was given a Gollum Jade which came from living in a green house its entire life to my house under a grow light. I overwatered it! Half of the roots rotted. I took it out of its pot and planted it in a root appropriate sized pot. Will it regrow its roots or should I start all over and propagate it?
@moodyblooms2 жыл бұрын
If there is any black or rotting it will need to be cut off. You can always propagate cuttings to be sure. How is it doing now?
@SSaaNNddYY772 жыл бұрын
@@moodyblooms Well I didn't think it was doing well, so I took it out of the pot to check on its roots... here a big fat worm was in the soil and I'm wondering if this is what killed it. I didn't think I ever over watered it as I do have a green thumb. I think the worm ate the root system. SO I let it sit out for a week and just replanted it in a clay pot. Didn't water it. Hope I get some roots. Thanks for asking! 😀

My Gollum has grown into a bonsai tree but it’s heavier on one side and leaning. Should I prop it up? Try to propagate it and make it smaller? It’s not leggy, just leaning.
@moodyblooms3 жыл бұрын
You could definitely prop it up. I like to use larger rocks so it looks more natural. Another option would be to make a large chop on the stem propagate, but then you would lose the bonsai look (if that is what you are going for).
