That was an eye-opener, Robert! Something I didn't know existed in the USA. Certainly something different in the way of scenery....and devoid of trees and vegetation! A little bit unnerving at times! Many thanks for the trip, both, and ride safe!...😏...😏...!

That was a great ride. Been past it a couple of times but never took the time to visit. Shame on me. Thank you for sharing. GREAT.

It does warrant a detour and look around, it is a pretty out of this world landscape. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I love that area, it’s been a little over a year last time I was through there but never disappoints

It is a great area, with great and diverse landscapes, roads built for bikes, and very light traffic.

Thanks, Robert, for a tour of the Craters of the Moon. Haven't gotten there yet, and given my present geography, it will be a very long trip to get there which makes your effort really worthwhile for folks such as myself. BTW, I am using a Bose Soundlink Revolve (the small one) and the sound effects of the motorcycle were thundering my living room. Almost like being along on the ride. Crank it up!

Hello again Bruce, as I recall you are a very long ways from Craters of The Moon, half way around the world from it. If you do ever have the chance it is pretty spectacular geography to experience. Be forewarned though it is quite in the middle of nowhere, which I find beautiful in its own right, but it is not for everyone. On that note, my upcoming vids will show you some more of that beautiful, lonely scenery and why it is such a great area to visit, so stay tuned, as I know you will. I really love hearing of your appreciation for my sound work. I do occasionally have comments that don't like what I do, one very recently even. I always consider those comments, sometimes they are right and I can learn and improve. Sometimes I have to just accept that some people are just born critics. But the positive comments reinforce that I am on the right track, so I greatly appreciate the comments such as yours.

Cool. I’m headed there in June hopefully. Not sure if that park had been developed when I was there 40 years ago.

Thank you for the comment, glad you enjoyed the video. Yes it was a very warm day in September, the high was about 100 degrees. Any sunny summer day there will tend to be a bit hotter here as there is so much exposed black rock soaking up and reflecting the heat.

First class as usual! Question please, is the motorcycle sound track from your Roadliner? Because it dosen't sound like my Stratoliner.
@RobertMerz6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bruce. Yes the soundtrack is from my Roadliner. However I am not running the factory pipes, instead I run a set of cut down Cobra pipes. They are a baffled straight pipe, and they keep the deep sound of the engine exhaust but eliminate most of the high pitch harshness of a straight pipe, and are considerably quieter!
@Doodad26 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I ran a Roadhouse muffler for a while and grew tired of the noise. I am back stock now. I really like the low rumble that I hear on your videos. How do the pipes sound when you throttle hard? Also, if you could share with me more info about how you modded the pipes I would much appreciate it! Thanks again for the wonderful videos!
@RobertMerz6 жыл бұрын
I found the stock pipe sounded great at idle and very low speeds, but at highway speeds I could barely hear the bike. When I throttle hard the bike is fairly loud, although nothing like straight, unbaffled pipes. I also like that these pipes because they can be reasonably quiet at any speed when you stay off the throttle, great for urban areas. I started with the Cobra X-tra Longs, really liked the looks of them, but they drug very badly on any kind of cornering, so I cut them down, several times. Eventually I ended up with a staggered cut, I bought staggered tips as well to replace the straight tips I had originally. I had to cut the flow through baffles out and slide them back further in the pipe to make it all work. Knowing what i know now I would get a set of staggered pipes to start with. I also tried a set of bolt in baffles, extra from Cobra, which further reduced the sound, but on the dyno it showed that these extra baffles were robbing a considerable amount of power on the high end of my rpms.
@Doodad26 жыл бұрын
@@RobertMerz Would you cut down the staggered pipes?
@RobertMerz6 жыл бұрын
I don't believe i would have to, I think they would be short enough already. I did like the sound and look of the X-Tra Longs, but cornering was extremely poor, by using shorter staggered pipes the sound is closer to the rider, but the pipes don't drag (as much) on those right hand leans. Here is a link to Cobra's staggered pipes for your "slashdowns" : cobrausa.com/yamaha/roadliner_06_13_1/motorcycle_exhausts/full_systems/speedster_slashdown/2823/

I have a GoPro 4 Black and I built a custom mount for it of my left mirror. A link to a picture of the mount is here on my Facebook page, Dry Rock Studios: facebook.com/dryrockstudios/photos/a.453336891456077/743695562420207/?type=3&theater

I have been making vids for the viewer to lose himself in, for the viewer to just enjoy and form their own opinion if they choose. Something different from every other vid out there, and maybe something I have to change in the future. Thanks for watching, and taking the time to comment. I do appreciate hearing your opinion and I may try changing my format in the future.

I've been there and didn't really find it very interesting. It's just looks like a bunch of messed up formations and a lot of big dirt piles (volcanic rock actually) I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Glad it's checked off my bucket list so we can see more interesting places when we go back out there.
@RobertMerz5 жыл бұрын
Myself I thought it was a very interesting place to see, but each of us likes different things. Something your comment alludes to is that until we see something for ourselves we really are never sure if it is something worth seeing for ourselves, as you said, you saw it, you can check it off your bucket list now and look for the things that are more interesting to you. Thank you for watching, and for taking the time to comment!
