This is FANTASTIC. I doubled the frosting, because I like extra. You don't need extra. So I put it in the fridge. It became the most delicious pudding. I still had a few tablespoons leftover so I made hot chocolate. I'm making another batch to mix in with my coffee. Thank you Jill. I'm so glad that you share your talents with us. ❤❤❤

It’s called ”kladdkaka” in swedish! In the original recipe, there is no baking powder since it’s supposed to be “sticky” like a lava cake. We also don’t usually have any frosting on in - it’s served with whipped cream and berries usually. And it’s often better after being in the fridge for a couple of hours/a day! Love the healthier version of it, thanks!

This looks delicious!!! You can take the rest of the milk and blend it a few seconds to get the rest of that date goodness in the blender. :-) I do that a lot with recipes to get everything.
@lydialangfordjoiner7656 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing! When you scraped out the first blended liquid, so much of the mixture stuck to the container- a common problem. I suggest putting the remainder of the milk into the scraped container and blend briefly and salvage that great stuff.🤓

This is a fantastic recipe. I'm not a choco-holic, but every now and again, I have a real want for it, and I use dates almost exclusively for sweetening. This satisfying the urge, using pantry staples AND being healthful? Perfect! Thank you!

This cake looks DELICIOUS!!! I just have a question,its possible to replace oat flour with almond flour?? I would really appreciate to know it. Thank you!!!
@jenniferhicks-kinyanjui43057 ай бұрын
Hi Jill! Can I sub the almond flour in the icing for oat flour, as well as the almond flour in the cake for more oat flour? My son has an almond allergy.
@miraiedits6 ай бұрын
Maybe consider coconut flour? Not sure if that would work or how much to use, but try googling how to substitute it if so. I hope this helps :)

This may sound like a silly question, but what’s the difference between medjool dates and deglet dates? Thank you for sharing. It looks delicious! 😊
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow6 ай бұрын
Medjool dates are usually larger and they tend to be a bit sweeter. Deglet dates are smaller and most of the time more affordable.

Can I use defatted almond flour rather than regular or would it change the taste?

Wow :D sure does look like a "kladdkaka" ('gooey cake') as we call them here in Sweden :) I've really been wondering how to make one like the ones I grew up with, but had never seen a whole food vegan version before! We'd usually serve with whipped cream and no frosting (like you mentioned), but that's a fair idea - and personally, I think I'd prefer to just serve with berries :) Thank you so very much for creating the recipe

Hallo from Germany, Is it possible to use date sugar instead of dates in this recipe, and if so, how much? Thank you for everything you do.
@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow7 ай бұрын
I don’t really have any experience with date sugar so I wouldn’t know what to suggest, sorry
@inksslinks3197 ай бұрын
Probably best to use dates. Date sugar is dry sweetener so it affects the ratios of dry ingredients to wet.

Would it be possible to list how many dates, or how many ounces/grams 1 1/4 cups of dates is? I have a hard time using cups as measurements for things that leave a ton of empty spaces in the measuring cup.
