Lotus Mandala Time-Lapse Drawing

A Lotus flower inspired mandala. Took me about 4 hours to draw. Wish I would've added some color first, maybe I'll just do some colored pencil or something later. :)
Supplies I use:

I realized when editing this how much I turn my paper while I'm making mandalas (helps me keep the elements consistent and symmetrical) so I hope you don't get "seasick" while watching, lol. I tried to minimize the rapid turning. ;)

I took up drawing mandalas only last night, I've already began 3 different ones.... It's so soothing... I love how it produces a complicated, detailed looking result, but the process is made up of simple shapes... just about anyone could do it. It's accessible. And I think that's the best thing about it...

It's soo precise! Mine are usually wobbly. It would be nice if the video had some background music.

Cookie -- Thanks! My biggest trick to minimize wobble is to keep turning the paper to where your hand is most comfortable making the stroke. If I try to make a stroke against my natural comfort it'll be wobbly for sure!! 😁 --and I know! I need to find music long enough to last the video... I guess I could just have a shorter one repeat. 🤔😁

Lee Taila Hi! It’s an Ohm symbol. For most it signifies the one-ness of all things and is used in yoga and meditation chants. It has much deeper roots and meaning than that, but this is how most people in the West use it. Thank you!! 😊

Chris F A couple things I can think of to maybe help. Since this isn't writing (and you don't have to go left to right) try starting in different areas and working towards you so you're not hitting parts already drawn with your arm. Also, and mainly cause it's true for all art/artists, use ink that dries super fast. Microns are good because they dry almost immediately. I'm constantly thinking about where to make my next mark to keep my hand off of any possible fresh ink though. Pencil is harder, best to use a harder lead that smears less. Or you can rest your hand on a scrap piece of paper as you're drawing to keep from smearing. Or, I've seen some people wear a cotton glove that helps keep the oils and such from your skin off your paper. Hope this helps some. 😊
