Great demo on Crawfish boil. Looks similar to 2 pot steam and soak that we use. It really cleans them and the soak doesn't turn into mud. The tabs on the inside of your pot as well as handle and stirring stick great designs. Loved the shrimp cookin sack, perfect for the folks who don't eat crawfish but show up at your crawfish boil anyway! Thanks for posting this video.

Question. If your boiling them prior to purging, once they hit the boiling water they dead. No way for them to spit that there mud out. Just a thought.
@timmydronet12682 жыл бұрын
Purging and cleaning crawfish are 2 different things. 1. Purging crawfish is the process of cleaning the inside/poop vein so it is no longer black and full of you know what and/or gritty artificial bait. Just like you and me it takes time for our system to cleanse itself. The same is true for crawfish, it's typically a 24 hour process in an aerated tank of plain water with no access to new food to ingest. 2. Cleaning them is what gets the mud off of the outside of the crawfish which happened twice before he boiled them. One of the purposes of the video was to show how dirty crawfish are, even after being washed multiple times. They do not "spit that there mud out," the mud is on the outside of the shell. Hope this answers your question.

If it's frozen add in towards the end of your soak(bout 6 to 10 min before done). It'll cool the water down a bit but that spice will soak in perfectly to that corn

Hmmm interesting but wouldn't it be bad to do it that way? Cause you got all the mud and stuff in the pot you just boiled them and you said there was a smell to the mud pot so wouldnt the smell latch on the the crawfish? I seen a few crawfish bouls on yt and they all clean their crawfish before boiling so that they arent durty nor having gunk on them while they boil.
@GregTally3 жыл бұрын
Personally think doing both might produce the absolute best outcome...but if you keep soaking and rinsing until the water is clean...not sure I'd see the point of the two pot method. If this guy was just cooking them without rinsing them previously - then no wonder the two pot method is a game changer for him!
@timmydronet12682 жыл бұрын
@@GregTally in the beginning of the video you can see the supplier washing them and in addition to that, he washes them again in his outdoor sink when he gets them home. I boil crawfish for a living and we wash them 3 times before we boil them and there is still a lot of dirt that comes off during the boil. We consider the boil to be the "ultimate bath" as we are boiling them at 212° which gets the rest of the dirt/mud off of the "mud bugs." Sure there may be a LITTLE bit of dirty water on the outside of the crawfish when transferring to the 2nd pot. However, it does not compare to the amount of dirt/mud in the water using the traditional 1 pot method. You just don't see it because the pot is full of seasoning camouflaging the dirty water.
@timmydronet12682 жыл бұрын
@Bruno the distinction he makes about the 2nd pot being 150° is what you seem to be missing. He boils them at 212° resulting in the crawfish getting the "ultimate bath" leaving 99%(there's a little bit of dirty water on the shell of the crawfish) of the dirt in the boil pot. He then drops them into the 150° pot which has no fire under it and is NOT boiling or cooking the crawfish any further. It is only for the soaking process with a controlled temperature to avoid further cooking and clean seasoned water to soak up.

@@GregTally Look up FrogBone Seasoning. They have videos of 2 pot method. Steam first then soak. Similar but only uses a small amount of steam/water to cook em first. I have a crawfish washer and even when you get clear running water they still have mud and dirt on them. We use the washer and 2 pot method. You can absolutely tell the difference. They do not have that swampy mud smell, especially after you have cooked 3-4 batches and the soak water is still clean and spicy.

@IcshadowsNblood3 жыл бұрын
I mean isnt purging them the same thing and then you dont have to have two cookers going plus your also adding cook time to your crawfish by cooking them then adding them to very hot water agian.
@CWEATHERFORD683 жыл бұрын
You’re not adding cook time... It’s a soak time... You have to soak the crawfish to draw the juice and seasoning into the crawfish... Think physics... Heat expands and cooler temps shrink... When you boil the meat is cooking and expanding and pushing outward... When you shut off the heat, the cooling takes place and shrinks... When they shrink, it forces the seasoned water into the crawfish... That’s the flavor baw!!!

@Xmannyfresh22X I'd say he has a very good reason to be pushing Loco brand products since his Southern Boyz Outdoors store sells it. Also, he isn't double boiling the crawfish. Boiling happens at 212°, the 2nd pot is at 150° and only soaking the crawfish. You steam and then soak, he boils and then soaks...

Yeah. Just think. You boiled the dirty crayfish in clean water which doesn't mean they are now clean. You cooked them before cleaning them which means you have dirty cooked crawfish. Come on man. You know better than that!
@timmydronet12682 жыл бұрын
So, in the video you can see all of the dirty water remaining after he boiled them in "clean water" as you stated. Hot water, especially at a rolling boil, breaks up dirt much more effectively than cold water which is why the "clean water" was no longer clean after he boiled them. Also, if you rewatch the video you can see where the supplier washed them and then he washed them again before he ever dropped them into the clean water to boil them.
